Boot Nike

Objective of the meeting was to brief all IPTA/IPTS on the evaluation/ post assessment of SETARA 2009 and way forward for SETARA 2011.

Prof Muhammad Jantan, who heads the SETARA ’09 committee, was manly enough to confront us with two issues raised earlier by some of these IPTA/IPTS. Firstly, should we include research aspect in SETARA assessment? Ideally having a system that can cater both MyRA (research university status) and SETARA (rating for teaching and learning) would be very nice. However, both MyRA & SETARA are owned by different owner, make it difficult to be linked together.

ASSESSMENT

The first issue of not so critical became to hot too handle as it sparked audience to comments on the measurement transparency and assessment style of SETARA. This led to the second issue whether we should cluster or de-cluster IPTA/IPTS for the SETARA 2011? Participants, most of them IPTS argued on why should they were made to play in the same field with the IPTA? They argued IPTAs with government big budget (in this case they say people’s tax money) able to operate in a much more ideal ways, unlike IPTS who compete thru good marketing strategies. The SETARA rating according to them really jeopardizes their rice bowl.

My view on this was simple. We should have a different assessment altogether between universities, college universities and colleges (but definately not de-cluster the IPTA/IPTS). The measurement must be transparent enough for all to understand that the rating (or ranking) is just a platform for quality measurement. This measurement eventually will determine whether a college would be able to be upgraded into University College standard. Macam English Premier League la.. Long term objective of the government is to ‘erase’ the psychological views of IPTA/IPTS. Thus, clustering them together would just do that.

CHALLENGE

The debate on the subjective measurement i.e. budget, Infrastructure etc is a never ending story. The QS and THES encounter these issues every year. We should take this as a challenge for us to move forward. Bear in mind, by 2015 Malaysian education will be subjected to liberalization. Thus, more International College will take part and take hold of the currently small pie. What can we bank on if it is not a quality teaching and learning, and to some extend commercialized research, to compete with the so called giant of the education industry? Just look at Monash, Swinburne, Sunway etc within less than 12 years of operation in Malaysia they were already rated as an excellent Tier 5 University College.

Malaysian nowadays talks a lot on equality and transparency. In Penang they are proud with their CAT (Competency, Accountability and Transparency) principle. But why participants at the meeting complaining that a single ‘plate’ should not fit for all? Should not be playing in the same field?

Well I guess fair do not necessarily mean equality.

P/s - Congratulations to abe and mek Kelantan for winning the Malaysian Cup 2010.

Penat

Pagi tadi macam biasa boss duduk tazkirah depan PC aku.

And that moment I saw the ’soft’ side of my boss. He burst into tears. I got shocked and couldn’t offer a good word to console him.

That was last week…

Rasanya dah masuk 2 minggu aku bekerja tanpa cuti2. Kalau last week aku sibuk dengan convo, minggu ni aku di KLCC interview candidates. Monday Tuesday aku ke sekolah2 selected untuk briefing. InsyaAllah malam Selasa baru balik and…petangnya Rabu kena mengadap Datuk untuk post-mortem Convo. Kalau Datuk sama boss komen banyak2 sangat, next year suruh diaorg buat sendiri lah convo tu...aku dah penat!

Next week on weekend, ada workshop organized by MOHE. Nama dah naik, requested by director PG himself. Nak tolak rasa macam penting juga workshop tu lagi pun @ national level. Kalau pergi rekod la camni 3 minggu berturut2 tanpa cuti…penat dah aku!

The whole year, come to think about it memang memenatkan. Harap2 segala usaha aku selama ini diberkatiNya. Itu yang maha penting.

Tapi buat masa ni aku perlukan lagu..

Baju Melayu

Perasaan so not cool sebab dah lama x jadi bujang. Nak melaram punya pasal aku beli la songkok tinggi satu, kopiah putih satu.

Gathering malam tu ada nyanyi2, ada drama, ada cabutan bertuah tapi yang really steal the show was bila management committee buat persembahan, led by my boss pulak tu.

Enjoy some of the pic below…

Bila aku check balik rupanya kamera Pentaq aku ni dah kena belasah sama Damia sampai gambar bibik terkejut pun ada sekali..hahaha

Someday It Will Be Saturday Night..

In a week time we’ll be having another round of Convocation. This time I’ll be alone in managing the preparation, process and eventual ceremony. My partner in crime, Nizar I guess is happy with his EduVenture (no need to listen to early morning tazkirah) while my side kick Nuzah is still in period of confinement. Things are tough nowadays. Nonetheless, I’m still able to keep up with the ‘pace’. Monday it is but I know someday it will be Saturday night…  Bila la tu ya?

Talking about Convo, it is one of the major events of the year. Generally it was not that hectic but one need a high level of stressful balance to deal with it. Lots and lots of protocol. The stage will be set as if it is an event to proclaim a Sultan. The preparation was even tougher. We’ve been asked to prepare 3 sets of different plans (including 2 contingencies) taking into consideration unavailability of Tun M for the event. But the level of stressful balance I was talking just now is no other than to take care of.. well, you know who? (Shhh! takleh sebut kuat2 nanti Malaikat dengar kena tulis belah kiri)

SEVEN WILLS

Talking about Sultan I remember this 7 wills of Malay Sultans, signed upon declaration of constitution of the Federation of Malaya (Persekutuan Tanah Melayu - now known as Malaysia) on 5th August 1957.

The last will leads to article 153 of the Malaysian constitution, which has been long debated, envied by other races. Let’s talk about this later, I'm in no mood to gtalk about racism, just yet.

Anyway, the 7 wills goes like this…

In translation with my laymen understanding, it will be something like this. We named and we called the land that you step in and the sky above you, the Federation of Malaya.

Tanah simpanan Melayu sehingga nisbah 50 peratus, selebihnya kamu rebutlah bersama-sama kaum lain - We declared and we held for you, and we allow you to declare and save it to your grandchildren, other than mountains, lakes, and forest reserves, a Malay reserve to a ratio of 50% with the remaining to be shared among other races.

To take care of you and to protect our children and grandchildren, and your property, we set up the Malay Regiment in addition to combating the threat of chaos in the country and from abroad.

We ensured and we guaranteed that the government and the sovereignty of the Malay rulers ruled this country.

Kami isytiharkan Islam adalah agama Persekutuan – We declared Islam is the religion of the Federation.

Kami tetapkan bahasa kebangsaan ialah bahasa Melayu - We set the Malay language as the national language.

We entrusted and we held for the Malay rulers to protect the position of the Malays and the legitimate interests of other races (and then added the special position of natives of Sabah and Sarawak) - under Article 153.

P/s – Annual leave should do me good after the stressful convo..provided no case of ‘premature ejaculation’ as last year’s.

Kalau Berpacaran.

Lagu special dedication untuk Zubeq, nasihat masa tengah berpacaran (jangan tunggu lama-lama..)

[Sohaimi Mior Hassan feat Ana Rafali & Altimet]

Kalau berpacaran, Memang banyak pantang larang,
Menjaga susila, Ibubapa adik abang.
Apabila berdua, Carilah tempat yang terang,
Agar tidak pula, Mencuba aksi terlarang.

Boleh pandang-pandang, Jangan pegang-pegang,
Duduk renggang-renggang, Bertambah sayang,
Biar malu-malu, Biar segan-segan,
Kerna malu itu, Perisai orang beriman

[Ana Raffali]
Kalau berpacaran, Jangan tunggu lama-lama,
Kalau dah berkenan, Jumpalah ayah dan mama,
Hantarlah rombongan, meminang dengan segera,
Kalau terlambat kasih mu disambar buaya.

[Altimet]
Kita sambung cerita, Kalau kamu berdua,
Aku yang ketiga, Aku penambah perasa,
Aku lah pendarab nafsu serakah,
Hai teruna bikin perangai selamba,
Hati si dara kata tak apa.

Berani buat terima padah,
Kalau tak sedia, Ucap syahadah

@ Parit 1, Chikus

Ahad: aku balik Parit 1 Chikus. Tanah tumpah tempat kelahiran. Lama dah x balik semenjak tanah sawah tu kena jual. Bagus jugak jual kalau x tu lah punca boleh bawak bergaduh sesama sedara mara. Ptuihh..hampeh kalau diingat-ingatkan. Kampung dah berubah, jalan dah berubah, sungai dah berubah serba-serbinya dah berubah. Aku lagi la banyak berubah. Agaknya tu sebab perubahan terasa amat terasa.

Tengok tu jalan dah semak. Sungai dah keruh airnya. Dulu airnya agak jernih paras lutut je. Situlah tempat mandi, buang membuang dsbgnya. Titi siratalmustaqim tu pun dah usang sangat dah. Takut betul nak melintas pi rumah si Jaapar (tak patut betul dia ceraikan bini Cina dia yang baik sesangat tu..Jaapar, Jaapar!)

Masa nak balik last minute kami decided to pusing bandar Teluk Intan. Nak tengok Menara Condong a.k.a. 'Pisa' Teluk Intan. Sampai kat area Chuk Chak (lepas pekan Langkap) Maksu pun ceritalah masa kecik2 dulu dia sama awah mak jalan kaki 3 jam dari Parit 1 ke tempat kerja. Kerjanya menanam sawah kat bendang tauke Cina kat Chuk Chak tu. Pagi2 seawal pukul 5 maksu, arwah mak, mak Teh (yang dah bergelar Datin) and few others, led by arwah Pak Nan jalan kaki subuh2 sepiee (sepiee ni nak menambahkan perisa pada perkataan subuh yan kelam, gelap tu). Takleh bayangkan penderitaan and at the same time kesungguhan orang dulu2..Thank you mak kerana berjaya mengubah kehidupan kita.

Menara condong Teluk Intan diambil menggunakan Pentak Compax S10 waktu tengah panas lit-lit. Nampak menarik. Sebenarnya menarik lagi masa naik kat atas menara tu..

Cepat Sembuh Tun..

We'll be waiting for you for our 10th Convo..

Squinty Eyes, Si Kaki Botol!

Soi Lek Leng Chai..

You might want to start with your very own Sex Counseling Session before decided to send Hamin Hussin to a counselor.

Soi Lek commented via The Star 29 Sept 2010: said Hamim did not understand the concept of democracy when he proclaimed Malay rights as a mandate to rule the country. “He obviously does not know what democracy is all about. In a country that practices democracy, it is the rakyat who determine who rules the country,” he said.

MCA singing the same song with DAP. Isn't it too obvious.

Soi Lek also said “Our (MCA) stand is very clear. Anyone who makes remarks which are racial, religious, extreme in nature and hurt the people of other religions or races should be subjected to punishment according to the country’s laws,”

So good in making stand ha Soi Lek? Let me just ask you where is your (and your MCA’s) stand in the case of retarded hero wannabe Namewee? Benjamin Stephen’s blaspheming against Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), Islam and the Muslims? Here some of the words uttered by Benjamin Stephen: -

1. Prophet Muhammad is not a good example for human kind due to the jihad he preaches. Benjamin further claimed Quran promises 7 angels for any Muslim that kills kafir (infidel, laknatullah).

2. Angels could not come down to earth, doing their job as they are too afraid of dog.

3. Muslims goes to Mecca will kiss Hajar Aswad stone to wash away their sins. (Benjamin even portrays Hajar Aswad like the V shape of a woman, for the Muslim to put in their face & kiss it).

4. And many more (see vid below)

Nak harapkan KDN dan Menteri Amaran Kerismudin bertindak?

Oh yes, one more thing Soi Lek….NAH!! (Middle finger up + sound like Namewee’s pathetic racist lyrics)
