Last week Thursday 5th we had our QDay 2009 with theme Embracing Quality, Transforming UTP. The QDay are with the objectives to continuously enhance knowledge on quality and improvement initiatives, other than to award employees' effort, contribution and loyalty.

YBhg Datuk in his speech that morning commenting on mission statement & shared values: “Complementing our mission statement are our shared values of loyalty, integrity, professionalism and cohesiveness. While our mission statement gives us a sense of purpose, our shared values define what we believe in and what we stand for. Together, they serve as a guiding beacon in the pursuit of global championship and they help shape the PETRONAS brand”.

In conjunction with the QDay also, a series of sharing sessions (forum) on corporate governance and hand over of the revised UTP’s Limit of Authority or LOA was conducted. The sharing session on corporate governance brings well known people from EAC, CEO of MQA Dato' Dr. Syed Ahmad Hussein and Mr. Parama Iswara Subramaniam, SGM from SIRIM.

My name appeared in 4 categories (first time in 4 years) namely Mesra Award & Improved Initiatives (both Individual basis), Best work group or committee awards from UTP Convocation 2008 (Event Management) & UTP Transformation Plan Team (Secretariat). The Mesra Award looks into a staff's overall involvement within the university community, taking into consideration interpersonal relation, popularity (huh?), personality and PR skills. Well since 70% casted their votes, I do feel great that day! (Thanks to voters).

Congrats to other winner (including my boss Nizar under Leadership category). Hope next year we'll be able to win again.
