Dec 26th, when almost everyone is with their loved one finishing the last few days of 2011, I on the other handy got to be with the participants of UTP Filing System Workshop here in Cameron Highland. Don't get me wrong thou, I do like these kind of workshop-ping. It's just that this week supposedly to be rrthe only week that I could take leave before the start of new year (and before I lost all my right to complete my leave for 2011).

Lets not talk so much on the sobbing part. I was invited to this workshop in replacing En SAN. I do feel honor when he asked me to reps him but at the same time I just could not imagine the expectation that will arise from the audience. Eventually and thankfully, the session went smoothly. Below is the excerpt from my opening speech for the workshop: -

The UTP Filing System, as I have been informed, is an initiative and effort to establish a proper file management which will include not only filing procedures but also developing a proper storing, retrieval and archiving system. Theoretically, if your office is in a mess and you don’t know where to start when it comes to filing away all the files and documents, you have got a real problem on your hands. If this is the situation, it won’t be an easy task to sort the mess out. It is for this reason that I believe it is necessary that you need some kind of office filing or shelving system that keeps your office organized.

Documents need to be filed away in a proper order so that when a particular document is needed it can be found in no time. Offices are required to store files and documents so they cannot just be thrown away. These may include records of the daily transactions that the university has made throughout the years, all the accounts and reports, important minutes of meeting as well as the shareholders details. If these important documents are kept in a haphazard way, the univer-sity will not be able to find them when they are required. These documents may also be needed as proof, in case the univer-sity is involved in Research Univer-sity audit for instant or perhaps some kind of a law suit.

Seperti yang kita sedia maklum, UTP telah menerima penarafan Tier 5 di bawah Sistem Penarafan Institusi Pengajian Tinggi Malaysia (SETARA 2009). Penarafan ini secara langsung telah mengiktiraf proses pembelajaran dan pengajaran di UTP sebagai berstatus cemerlang. Pada 2012 ini, satu lagi proses audit SETARA yang melibatkan bukan hanya satu tapi dua audit iaitu SETARA dan D-SETARA akan dijalankan. Sejajar dengan hasrat dan objektif UTP untuk meningkatkan mutu dan aktiviti penyelidikan dan inovasi, pihak universiti juga telah meletakkan sasaran tahun 2013 untuk mendapatkan status Universiti Penyelidikan.

Bagi ketiga-tiga proses audit di atas, SETARA, D-SETARA dan Universiti Penyelidikan - memerlukan satu mekanisma atau system pengurusan file yang berkesan. Tujuan utama pengurusan file yang berkesan adalah untuk mempromosikan budaya perkongsian maklumat dan dalam pada masa yang sama memudahkan urusan kerja sedia ada seperti mudahcara pengaksesan data, penyimpanan rekod, analisis data, trend dan sebagainya.

UTP’s achievements especially in the area of teaching and learning for the past couple of years back have been tremendously increasing. As support staff, we need to ‘run’ as fast as the other counterpart i.e. the academic. Otherwise, we will be left behind and will not be able to ‘taste’ the victory when the times come. In realizing this, ITMS, under the good hand of previous and current Senior Managers, En Naziri and En Sabri respectively has come out with the SharePoint initiative, i.e. the electronic based total solutions of UTP filing and record management. SharePoint is a web-based intranet that can help improve one’s effectiveness by allowing us to set up centralised data to be used, edited and shared. Most importantly, this initiative ensures that records are able to be retrieved as and when needed. Therefore, filing management, both paper and electronic, as well as physical record, are of paramount important.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The next few years are expected to be challenging ones for us in realizing our aspiration to become Research Univer-sity by 2013 and beyond. Therefore, I would like to urge every single one of us to play the dual role of not only an implementer but at the same time a leader in our very own way. We need to have the drive and motivation and most importantly the perseverance in doing the job tasked to us.

Saya sesungguhnya berasa envy dengan segala usaha dan dedikasi yang tuan-tuan dan puan-puan tunjukkan kerana saya telah dimaklumkan bahawa initiatif UTP Filing System ini telah bermula semenjak Mac 2011 lagi. Inilah dia contoh drive dan perseverance yang saya maksudkan tadi. Congratulations to the Staff Internal Training and Development Group (SITDG), Puan Anne and gang, Information Resource Centre, led by En Naziri, Cik Syarifah and their team members, En Sabri, Cik Maniza and ITMS staff for the effortless work especially in the SharePoint initiatives and last but not least, all the participants of this workshop. I hope all of you will go back and implement the filing system in your respective department, fully in assisting the univer-sity to achieve its aspirations.

To the organizing committee, my deepest congratulations on the work done and I hope the two-and-half-day workshop will be fruitful and succeed. Thank you for inviting me to this workshop.

Pernah sekali aku ditanya dalam sebuah sesi temuduga, apa yang membuatkan aku boleh melontarkan pandangan dan pendapat dengan amat berkeyakinan sekali? Aku menjawab dengan tenang bahawa aku telah memperajakan dua ayat ini dalam kehidupan… ‘independent’ dan ‘survival’ semenjak lebih 25 tahun lalu. Hari esok genaplah 26 tahun kembalinya arwah abah ke rahmatullah. Maka selama itulah juga aku telah menggunapakai dan mempraktikkan kedua-dua ayat di atas dengan baik sekali.

Tahun ini agak sedikit sinonim dengan kehilangan abah 26 tahun yang lalu. Tahun yang sama sekitar Disember 1985, aku anak sulung yang berumur 12 tahun. Tahun ini Amin juga (anak sulungku) akan menginjak ke umur 13 tahun. Cuma kematian arwah abah adalah pada hari Jumaat dan 13hb tahun ini jatuhnya pada hari Selasa. Apa2 pun rezeki setiap anak Adam berbeza2. Jadi aku cuma boleh berdoa dan bertawakal kepadaNya kerana itu saja yang termampu aku lakukan di kala ini.

Honorary Doctorate

It has been sometimes since I last updated this blog. Poor her, dia terabai sekian lama. I was busy, busy, busy and busy. No other good excuses than busy-ness. I and the rest of the team were technically involved with the conferment of honorary doctorate to the President of Turkmenistan, held in the glorious Dewan Filharmonik. The event took roughly about 45 mins but the preparation is like for ages. Nevertheless, everything went smoothly as planned and I thanked God for that. With all the ‘havoc’, and ‘less-coordination’ efforts, we finally passed thru the 8th Dec heyday.

PRESIDENT BERDI

His Excellency Mr Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, is a graduate of the Turkmen State Medical Institute (TSMI), where he later became Associate Professor of Preventive Dentistry. His Excellency also obtained his Doctor of Philosophy and Doctor of Science in Medical Sciences. In 1997, His Excellency was appointed Minister of Health and Medical Industry, and four years later, advanced to become Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet Ministers of Turkmenistan. In December 2006, following the demise of the late President Saparmyrat Niyazov, His Excellency was made Acting President of Turkmenistan. In February 2007, His Excellency was elected as the President of Turkmenistan through a popular vote.

Turkmenistan has significant long-term energy potential. It is home to the world’s fourth-largest reserves of natural gas and a substantial endowment of oil. Under His Excellency’s premiership, her petroleum industry has remained vibrant and prosperous — a fact borne out by the active participation of numerous foreign oil and gas corporations including *PETRONAS. *PETRONAS participation in Turkmenistan’s petroleum industry represents its most significant investment outside Malaysia and in the Central Asian region. With support of the Turkmenistan Government, *PETRONAS recently commenced the nation’s first offshore production as part of an integrated oil and gas development plan. Other milestones include the nation’s first fabrication yard in Kiyanly for the fabrication of offshore platforms.

This vitality and investor confidence is no accident; instead owing itself largely to His Excellency’s policies. His Excellency has gone to great lengths to promote national science as the primary driver of Turkmenistan’s future progress. He has sought to increase the number of qualified scientists and specialists, and strengthened collaboration between science and industry at both the national and international levels — measures that have helped ensure the adoption of best practices and innovations, including those applicable to the petroleum industry. To support and sustain the widespread application of science and technology, His Excellency has embarked on large-scale reforms in Education and strengthened international co-operation in this area. His Excellency’s economic reforms have also helped strengthen Turkmenistan’s investment climate, which have not only increased inward investment into the petroleum industry to fund projects that monetise and realise Turkmenistan’s resource potential, but also — and just as importantly — indirectly facilitated transfers of petroleum engineering technology from abroad.

Beyond technology and engineering, Turkmenistan’s petroleum industry has benefited from His Excellency’s foreign policy measures. His Excellency promotes good neighbourliness, openness, mutual respect and goodwill in the international arena and has sought to establish Turkmenistan as a force for stability within Central Asia. All of this has helped create a conducive environment for deeper cross-border energy market integration at both the regional and trans-continental levels. By extending the geographical reach of Turkmenistan’s energy potential, this deeper energy market integration stands to create a self-sustaining, virtuous circle — augmenting the value of her petroleum resources, attracting greater inward investment, spurring further exploration activities and with the attendant discoveries, extending her petroleum resource-base even further; securing thereby the prosperity of current and future generations of the Turkmen people.

His Excellency’s efforts in promoting the advanced application of technology and engineering in Turkmenistan’s petroleum industry is a prime example of harnessing the power of science for the benefit of humanity. Thus, The Institution’s Board and Senate have honoured His Excellency with the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Petroleum Engineering & Technology, honoris causa.

Satu jenis permainan yang tak pernah aku berpeluang bermain…ragbi. Dengan ketinggian 155 dan berat badan ‘ideal’ 45kg (suatu masa dulu) takde mana-mana pasukan yang berminat walaupun aku ada kelebihan kelajuan, kehenseman dan pelbagai ke lagi lah :-0. Aku ingat kata-kata Maran, kalau aku try jugak patah riuk jangan sesekali salahkan depa. Aku demotivated, takut sebenarnya, so aku pun tak pernah try2 sampailah hari ini. Namun bak kata orang tua-tua, the flame masih burning dalam diri so itu pasal la RWC2011 sangat2 aku tunggu.

Ragbi bagi aku satu permainan yang menerujakan juga mengghairahkan. It’s a combination of both kekuatan dan kepandaian. Jarang ada permainan yang sebegitu. Pemain ragbi pulak ada character2 mereka yang tersendiri. Dulu di ITM budak-budak ragbi ni selalu dipandang tinggi, sama tinggi dengan ketinggian masing2. Ujang flyhalf contohnya walaupun tak memiliki ketinggian yang boleh ’dibanggakan’, tapi ada character gila-gila yang tersendiri. Pernah sekali tu masa dia tengah tension study, di soundnya katak2 dekat longkang besar hostel Halban supaya berhenti berbunyi. Dia boleh jerit sekuat2 hati sampai satu dorm terkejut. Lepas 2 minit terdiam katak2 tu semua. Study dia maintain 3 pointer every semester. Sarjen (lock - budak TI) badan punyalah besar Extra XXXL ala-ala Kumin tapi hati ada sikit sentimental. Awek dia comel je saiz S. Ada sekali tu kita org balik cuti semester masa tengah tunggu keretapi awek dia tertidor dekat kaki Sarjen, cute sesangat. ;-)

Masa mula-mula di ITM, budak freshie cam aku ni tak reti lagi properly dressed so pi beli makan kat gerai siap pakai kain pelikat lagi tu. Lalu pulak ikut hostel Halban tempat senior-senior melepak. On the way balik beli pisang goreng malam tu aku kena tahan. Muka-muka pembuli2 senior semuanya turun. Dalam hati abislah aku ’dikerjakan’ bebudak senior ni. Nasib baiklah dalam kain ada seluar pendek malam tu kalau tak berbogel la aku balik Jati agaknya..huhu. Bila geng2 senior ni tanya aku asal dari mana? Aku jawap ’Manjoi’ terus Krull datang. Dia kata budak Manjoi jangan sapa-sapa berani usik sebab budak kampung dia. Muka toreh takde darah kembali jadi merah gumbira penuh dengan bangga diri sekejap. Selamat aku. Rupanya Manjoi ni sama level dengan Kuala Perlis a.k.a tempat gengster-gengster bertapak di Perlis. Lepas peristiwa itu takde sapa berani kacau aku lagi. Krull pemain ragbi ITM budak final year. Awek dia Popeye (sebab tengkuk dia agak panjang skit) bekas pelajar terbaik Hartford Univ, US masa depa sama2 melanjutkan pelajaran mid 90an dulu. Last aku jumpa Krull dgn Popeye dia dah bawak Merc S280 raya hari lepas. Agaknya Popeye punya kut sebab dia anak org kaya KL dengar critanya.

Anyway, All Blacks berjaya juga menang balik World Cup selepas gap 24 tahun. Last sekali masa depa menang first WC 1987. Ironinya final dan semi-final mempertemukan empat pasukan dari kejuaraan 1987 tu dan pemenangnya pun pakai skrip yang sama. Tahniah kepada Ritchie McCaw dengan rakan-rakan sepasukan. Dia sememangnya rugger yang akan jadi legenda selepas nama-nama besar lain seperti Jonah Lomu, John Kirwan, Rokococo, Sean Fitzpatrick, Dan Carter, dsbgnya.

Tapi yang paling syoknya bila tengok Piri Weepu menjelirkan lidah bila dia lead All Blacks dengan Hakka...

Transformation 'Soft Part'

The Institute has embarked on its Transformation Plan initiative back in 2009 with objective to identify and recommend appropriate action plans to accelerate the university’s R&D capacity and capability in order to become a world class research university. The near to-date target or immediate milestone was to achieve a Research University status by 2013. I was heavily involved with this Plan.

Two years down the road, we have finalized the plan, I would say in details, consists of not only immediate action plans to achieve the RU status but also a long-term strategies to ensure sustainability. Putting too much pressure with workload during the implementation phase of the Transformation, be it academia or administrator, needs motivation and morale boost. A set of new environment whereby transformation is not regarded as a threat but rather as a stimulating opportunity should be emphasized and put in place. I guess that’s why we have abundant of strategies, plentiful of initiatives and many-many action plans in ensuring a new environment to the staff. We want the staff to ask themselves what they can contribute to the institution rather than the otherwise.

That was then. I was with the rest of my colleagues today for a sharing session with the Transformation Team. They have a very focus presentation which I believe should come from a full time job effort. My expectations were never low until Khalid raises a very pertinent question whether all the above so called soft part is taken into consideration in ensuring sustainability of the Transformation. Then only I know that most of the soft part was not well covered.

Somebody needs to do something. Otherwise, the Transformation will not last long. It will only create short term gain but in the long term it might goes down the drain. I’m quite concern…

Festival of Lights - KBP Style

Amazingly, I did not write anything for more than 1 month. Not that I’m running out of idea or simply nothing much to write, in fact there were lots of things happen during that one-month period. We had our 11th Convocation; Raischa visited Hospital again, twice in a gap of 2 months etc, etc. But then, I just don’t feel in putting up my pen to the draft pad (or in this case to the keyboard).

Anyway, this week we gonna have a mid-week cuti of Deepawali. So to my entire Hindu friend out there, happy celebrating the ‘festival of lights’. To all the happy lot of Kampung Buah Pala as well. I heard the ‘High Chapparalian’ consists of 17 Indians and 7 Malays families have returned to the site of their old village to accept keys to their new double-storey houses. Lampu kalimantang lights finally emerged from the end of the tunnel, huh? A unit of double storey house in that area might be valued in the range of 300 - 350K, thus will cost the private developer Nusmetro Ven¬tures (P) Sdn Bhd RM8 – 9 mill altogether. Guan Eng and the rest of developer can now happily develop the whole land that has a commercial value of billions. It’s a huge spot-lights coming out from the end of the tunnel for Guan Eng and co.

For the remaining 9 families that did not accept the RM125K offered by the developer, they might have lost everything.

P/s - The Chinese Opera in a thick make up with esoteric and mysterious yet hardly understandable characters…

Bila anak BABI buat filem Nasik Lomak 2.0, dengan bangganya ’babi-babi gemuk’ semua ikut serta jadi pelakon tambahan…

Seronok jadi anak bukan Melayu di Tanah Melayu ni. Kutuk sini wa kutuk sana, lanciau sini dan lanciau sana, kontroversi NEGARAKUKU, kutuk wanita Islam bertudung, kutuk bunyi Azan, kutuk TNB, last-last dapat masuk Parlimen, bergelak sakan dengan Menteri Amaran, pastu boleh pulak bikin filim sendiri tayangan satu Malaysia. Cuba kalau aku yang kutuk Najib meng’mampus’kan ISA, mau aku masuk jel bawah ordinan lalu lintas ke, kalau tak pun ordinan mesin cetak ke, tak kira la asalkan aku boleh ditutupkan mulut.

Takpelah, orang Melayu memang begitu sifatnya. Layu dari batang sampailah ke hujung daun..

Was the movie “embraces and celebrates what makes us Malaysian?” What makes us Malaysian hanyalah kalau kita bercakap dengan satu bahasa, bersekolah di satu aliran yang sama, dan mula menghormati antara satu sama lain. Kalau masih seperti sekarang ini, just porgedit…

Tu sebab la aku tak pernah appreciate karya-karya filem Yasmin Ahmad (selain dari Iklan Raya PETRONAS) yang suka menonjolkan tabiat dan budaya buruk Melayu. Aku refer filem Yasmin adegan minah Melayu ikut mamat Cina main snooker, dengan sinis menolak pemuda Melayu sebab tak pandai dressing, x macho & tak pandai main snooker agaknya. Minah Melayu yang ikut masuk kelab snooker tu agak2nya bagus ke?

Huh! Buat digelak bangsa lain je..

P/s – Kalau kome tanya kenapa Alternative Views! lantang menulis dalam posting ni? Jawapnya inilah style gen i-y, belasah dulu pastu mintak maaf (itu pun kalau dah nak kena saman..)

Penuturan sesuatu ayat memainkan peranan penting bagi menentukan ‘weight’ atau kesungguhan penggunaannya. Sebagai contoh, kalau kita katakan “Ali pergi ke sekolah” – tidak membawa apa-apa makna yang penting. Namun apabila penggunaan ayat tersebut ditambah kepada “Sesungguhnya Ali pergi ke sekolah” – pertambahan perkataan itu memberikan makna yang mendalam dan mempunyai ‘weight’ dalam penggunaannya. Apatah lagi sekiranya ayat tersebut dikuatkan dengan perkataan seperti “Sesungguhnya Ali benar-benar pergi ke sekolah” – maka kesungguhan dalam ayat tersebut akan lebih terserlah.

Maka aku teringat ayat lazim dari surah Al ‘Asr ayat 103: 1-3 yang biasa kita baca,

"Demi Masa! Sesungguhnya manusia itu benar-benar di dalam kerugian. Kecuali mereka yang beriman, beramal soleh dan berpesan-pesan dengan kebenaran serta berpesan-pesan dengan kesabaran”

Bukan saja dua ‘weight’ di dalam ayat di atas tetapi ditambah pula dengan satu lafaz sumpah yang menjadikan ianya suatu ayat yang mudah, lazim tapi penuh dengan kesungguhan dan pengertian yang mendalam.

Minggu lepas ini beberapa sahabat lama dan rakan-rakan menyambut hari lahir. Rupa-rupanya Rizal sama hari lahirnya dengan Razman. Kami sama-sama di ITM Perlis, dalam satu cohort, satu kelas, satu group buat presentation dsbgnya. Empat hari lepas, hari lahir Sep (aka Ling nama manja masa di OPKIM IV dulu). Tajul juga birthday minggu lepas. Oh! tak lupa Raischa juga menyambut hari lahir yang pertama 9 september lalu. Kepada mereka2 ini semoga mereka dipanjangkan umur, dimurahkan rezeki dan sentiasa berada di kalangan manusia yang tidak kerugian seperti yang disebutkan di surah Al ‘Asr di atas. Amin..

Here I am riding on the Electric Train services (ETS) for the very first time. I must say, I do feel the disparity between the normal coach that I used to take before as compared to this electric-based ETS. Amin and I, we are heading south for our Idulfitri’s ‘obligatory’ visit to the in-law. Nora and the rest of the kidz were there even before Hari Raya.

Along the way, you could see lots of greenery of which is a very pleasant panorama that one could appreciate. And when the ticket lady dressed with Baju Kurung Hari Raya and a nice perfume smell (I guess due to this festive season), it is even pleasurable. I remember during the halcyon days back in 93’, riding on the Ekspress Senandung Malam from Arau to Ipoh was something that you are waiting for after struggling with a frantic schedule of examination at the end of each semester. During those days, you would travel at night and only reach Ipoh at 2-3 in the morning (after a long but fun journey). The travel usually starts at 5-6pm from Arau. Coach was sardines packed with mostly students, that sometimes it’s better to get yourself a seat at the coach’s juncture (in between coach at the stairway, with unlighted cigarette butt in your hand playing macho). Nevertheless, you don’t want to stay at the stairway for long because you might end up falling from the running train. I routinely never miss sitting at the stairway when the train go pass Bukit Merah Lake.

ETS was much much better. You’ll feel cozy and comfortable with air-con and a very spacious seat. Our coach has only few people doing almost nothing (probably because of the coziness?) and after sometimes you might feel awkward and suck!!

Raya 2011, Merdeka #54

Intussusceptions

Almost a year ago baby Raischa were born premature. Today she was again hospitalized due to severe pain in the abdomen part with a colicky pain pattern. We brought her to pediatrician at mid day and that’s when we found out about her intussusceptions (intestinal blockage).

Poor baby Raischa, she was all by herself when doctor scanned her using the telescopic scanner pushed thru her bottom. The scanner unable to push thru the blockage that urgent operation needs to be conducted right away. At 4pm yesterday, the minor operation went successful although in the process, she had her appendict removed. According to Dr Khor Guan Chai, master surgeon in-charge of the operation, if left untreated the affected intestines will be no longer usable and it could be life threatening too. We were lucky in that sense.

When we asked what actually the cause of the blockage was? Surprisingly Dr Khor could not provide any answer. He added, most of the intussusceptions case has no apparent cause which is common to a kidz age 5 months to 3 years.

Anyway, most importantly Raischa could regain her physics & strength in days to come. Same goes with Ma & Pa. Kita kan nak raya dah ni…

Perak Academy (I)

I remember a small chit chat between myself and the late Dato’ KK Lim (prior to take over of the Ipoh International School by Kinta Properties) on his passion to ensure Ipoh to be lively as it was when tin was the king of industry in this state. He added that lots of investor found Ipoh (& Perak) were not able to offer what he called ‘an investment package’ i.e. good schools, place to take a break after hard day of work, etc. And his thought was agreed by his son, ‘Mr Big’ Lim Si Boon.

Dato KK Lim passed away recently and his son Si Boon is now the rightful owner of Kinta Properties and is also now the President of the Perak branch of the Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MICCI).

I could see Si Boon’s name as one of the members of the Perak Academy Board of Governor. Hence, I foresee the Perak Academy establishment is to provide some input to the ‘investment package’ that is mentioned earlier. Kinta Properties has now lots of property investment in Perak, very own Golf Course, International School, and representative in MICCI Perak.

Dato' Seri Dr Abdullah Fadzil Che Wan (Chairman of the Board) is a long time friend of KK Lim’s family. In fact they put his name as a forefront in ensuring the ‘green light’ of proposed taking over of the international school from Yayasan Perak & MB’s Office.

P/s - I met Azwee during Tarawih prayer last night and he complaints how difficult his business want to move forward due to 'restriction' and 'control' made by manufacturer and wholesaler. Without their support, Azwee could not deliver goods in a competitive price. So, I wonder how merit comes into picture for Malay businessman in Penang?

Adakah anda sebagai ibubapa membenarkan anak anda pergi ke sekolah yang anda telah sedia maklum guru matematiknya bertegas menyatakan 1+1=3 sedangkan setelah sekian lama anda mempelajari dan secara prinsipnya anda amat yakin 1+1=2?

Kalau jawapannya ’ya’, samada tidak kedapatan lagi sekolah-sekolah lain di kawasan itu atau anda juga sudah mempercayai 1+1=3. Selain daripada dua jawapan itu saya boleh katakan yang anda BODOH!

Persoalannya apabila penganut agama Islam yang ditangkap pada serbuan yang dilakukan di Gereja Methodist Damansara Utama mengatakan beliau amat miskin dan hanya mengharapkan ehsan Gereja Katholik untuk sesuap nasi, anda masih percaya pada jawapan yang sebegitu? Atau anda rasa dia pun dan sebelas lagi penganut agama Islam yang ditangkap itu sudah percaya 1+1=3? Sudah tidak adakah lagi institusi-institusi Islam yang lain, Baitul Mal misalnya untuk menyalurkan bantuan sekiranya benar mereka miskin dan daif serta tergolong antara satu dari tujuh asnaf?

Jika dilihat daripada umur kedua-dua belas orang Islam yang ditangkap dalam serbuan itu, rata-ratanya masih berumur lingkungan 30an. Mana mungkin pekerja asing tanpa izin boleh hidup senang lenang sekiranya masih ada penduduk Malaysia berumur 30an yang masih tidak bekerja dan mengharapkan sesuap nasi dari Gereja?

Dan seperti yang saya katakan tadi, selain daripada jawapan-jawapan di atas, yang paling BODOH adalah bilamana ada segelintir umat Islam sendiri yang menjual agamanya dengan nilai yang murah. Menjual maruah kerana takut hilang vote...

‘Buka puasa’ di gereja: MCA selar Jais

Presiden MCA Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek menyifatkan tindakan para pegawai penguatkuasa Jabatan Agama Islam Selangor (Jais) menyerbu Pusat Methodist Damansara Utama di sini ketika satu majlis makan malam pelbagai kaum diadakan di situ, adalah tidak wajar dan memalukan. Kata beliau walaupun terdapat aduan atau wujud keadaan yang meragukan, para pegawai berkenaan sepatutnya tunggu hingga majlis pada Rabu malam itu selesai sebelum membuat pemeriksaan.

Dr Chua berkata Jais, yang terletak di bawah bidang kuasa anggota exco daripada PAS Datuk Dr Hassan Ali, perlu memberi penjelasan tentang isu itu dan memohon maaf kerana menceroboh premis gereja berkenaan serta kelemahan pihaknya mengendalikan perkara itu. “Kejadian ini menunjukkan bahawa PAS tidak liberal seperti yang didakwanya,” kata Dr Chua dalam kenyataan hari ini.

Naib presiden MCA Gan Ping Sieu pula berkata tindakan para pegawai Jais itu mencerminkan sikap pakatan pembangkang yang berfikiran sempit serta tebal dengan semangat kedaerahan.

Man With Integrity

(Bernama 02 Ogos, 2011) - Datuk Dr Rosti Saruwono mengambil keputusan meletakkan jawatan selaku Naib Canselor Uni-versiti Selangor (Unisel) dengan notis 24 jam berkuatkuasa esok. Beliau mengesahkan peletakan jawatannya menerusi khidmat pesanan ringkas sebagai membalas SMS yang dihantar oleh Bernama bagi mendapatkan pengesahan berita tindakannya itu.

"Ada keputusan yang saya tak sanggup laksanakan iaitu untuk melucutkan jawatan tiga pegawai Unisel tanpa proses sewajarnya," katanya ketika menjelaskan antara punca beliau meletakkan jawatan.

Berasal dari Klang, Selangor Rosti pernah berkhidmat sebagai Timbalan Presiden Bahagian Pendidikan Petronas dan rektor pertama Uni-versiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) sebelum dilantik sebagai Naib Canselor Unisel pada 2 Mac, 2009. Beliau menggantikan Prof Datuk Dr Mohd Razali Agus yang mengosongkan jawatan itu pada Julai 2008. Semasa baru dilantik, Rosti berkata beliau tidak akan menjadi "Pak Turut" kepada mana-mana pihak dan ingin memastikan institusi pengajian tinggi swasta milik kerajaan negeri itu tidak dijadikan medan berpolitik. Menurut sumber, Rosti telah diarahkan oleh kepimpinan Unisel untuk melucutkan jawatan tiga pegawai -- Pendaftar Rokmaa Mat, Dekan Fakulti Perniagaan Prof Dr Khalifah Othman dan Pengarah Pemasaran dan Komunikasi Korporat Halid Hasbullah.

Kudos to Datuk Dr Rosti. Being a righteous man with full of integrity I could not agree more with his decision to quit the post with immediate effect. After all, things must be too hard for him to handle when what matter most is politics. It was sad to hear an integrity and good governance (as in the case of the Unisel management) were buried down under just to ensure political sustainability of some. I might be wrong to pre-judge the situation; there might be something amiss, but professionally you don’t act on hearsay i.e. action taken until proven guilty.

Patutla 2 - 3 hari ni cuaca panas sangat.

When I joined the institution, Datuk Rosti was no longer the Rector. He instead was made the Vice President of Education since 2005 before being appointed the Unisel's Vice-Chancellor on March 2, 2009. I never had any chance to serve him until in 2009 when he chaired the Transformation’s Steering Committee. That was also not very long due to his official retirement from PETRONAS. Nevertheless, I had once accompanied him to South Africa for a mini convocation in Cape Town. I would view him as an easy going person, chilled and easy to communicate with but at the same time very committed and meticulous in whatever he does. He love to read and always stressed that life-long education is the factor for the strength of the nation (and the company) of which I found very interesting to a man of his credible.

All I could say is Unisel might have lost a man with the utmost credibility. Innalillah..

Happy 2nd retirement Datuk, we UTPian are so proud of you!

Re-coup

The institution on last Wed & Thursday organized a workshop with aims to prepare a 5-year plan/strategy to re-coup expenses i.e. to ensure break-even position in a specified time. The 1 ½ day workshop, which is related to the last AAC meeting on financial sustainability, was held in Telok Dalam Resort in Pangkor Island.

In the effort to position itself as a leading institution to serve the petroleum industry in this region, the management has strived for Research University status started off with the Transformation Plan back in 2009. Since last year, we have engaged in the execution of the Transformation Plan and everyone seems to be motivated in achieving the RU status. Simultaneously, the management has also been asked to reduce or recoup its expenses as the current increase in revenue was not parallel as compared to the increase in the cost. Eventually, we were asked to secure a breakeven point in a specified period (of which most of the participants view this situation as a slow but surely departing process with the parent company)

As usual, the workshop schedule was very hectic that on the first day we ended up at about 11PM. Nevertheless, we surreptitiously took our time to play beach volleyball and flying some kites (under the good initiative by En Md Akhir).

I do not wish to describe the output from the workshop cos’ for me it’s a decision that need to be made by the management. All I can say that every situations require in-depth study and analysis (kinda chicken and egg situation) before we can bring down the strategies to became an initiative/action plan.

Ketenangan

Minggu lepas sememangnya menuntut tenaga sehingga ke titisan peluh yang terakhir. Habis saja dengan AAC dan post-AAC, datang pulak accreditation visit untuk program-program Pasca Siswazah. Finally, hari Jumaat barulah dapat bernafas dengan sempurna. In between sessi accreditation, aku sempat bersembang dengan Dr M Noh. Dr M Noh ni kaki sembang tapi seronok sebab dia memang tahu detail, sometimes too detail. Dr M Noh bercerita tentang insiden 2007 masa dia kena endio sebab banyak artery yang dah block. Dia berumur dalam lingkungan 45 tahun ketika itu. Dia kata banyak block sebab setiap satu blockage kosnya sekitar RM20K. UTP kena bayar kos keseluruhan almost quarter million!

Anyway, seperti biasa Dr M Noh bercerita tentang detail in & out pasal fat, kolesterol dsbgnya yang amat mengconciouskan aku. Tapi di sebalik kejadian yang menimpa dirinya, Dr M Noh melihat bencana yang datang sebagai satu peringatan tentang kematian dan dalam masa yang sama betapa banyaknya rahmat Allah kepada manusia. Setiap hari selepas itu bagi Dr M Noh merupakan satu bonus dari tuhan kepada hambanya. Dia sentiasa membuat yang terbaik dan bersyukur dengan apa yang diberi.

Aku pula sebaliknya. Masih belum prihatin terhadap diri ini secara fizikal & spiritual. Bersyukur juga masih suam-suam kuku bergantung kepada naik turun iman di dada. Aku melihat kerja sebagai ibadah tapi terlalu mendesak diri sehingga kadang-kadang aku merasakan semua ini bukan lagi ibadah tetapi lebih kepada personal glory. Itu tidak sihat tu..

Aku perlukan ketenangan di kala beberapa hari lagi untuk menyambut Ramadhan Al Mubarak. Ketenangan yang menuntut aku mengurangkan desakan fizikal melampau dan keletihan minda. Seikhlas hati aku mohon ampun kepada keluarga & rakan taulan yang terkesan dari tempias ’desakan fizikal melampau dan keletihan minda’ minggu lepas.

What a pathetic displayed of football by the national squad in the first leg of the world cup qualifier just now. It was a wrong choice of tactical, wrong choice of players lined up in the first half of the game. Both central defenders played like a school boys although Qiu Li (age 30 with bulging tummy) and Alexsandar Duric (age 40) are two ‘old school’ forward, who could run as slow as donkey. And midfield…there were no midfield at all, a big loopholes in the middle of the field. Amar, Ismail Faruqi and captain Shafiq did not have the edge over Shahril, Mustafiq, Shia Jiayi and the rest of the Singaporean. Ismail were all over the pitch with no clear vision on how to score goal (or at least to assist in scoring goal). But then I guess, in overall, two things need to be considered carefully in the second leg, leadership and mindset change.

Three earlier matches with the EPL top four did not earn the boys the needed confidence to overcome the fear of playing in a full capacity crowd at Jalan Besar Stadium…(max 6K?). Deyy, pegang bola control game daa…

Leadership is another issue. The back four need leader. They need an experience leader to tell them when to push forward and when to calm down in a situation. The defenders are in dire strait of getting the service of the likes of Aidil or Norhafiz Zamani.

Let’s focus on the next game coming 28th July without the service of Shafiq and Aidil. No doubt Raja will push his boys in the first 20 minutes to look for the two deficit goals. Kunanlan & Amirul should start in the wing where they would expect lots of thru balls from the backline. Both of them should push forward every time they have the ball on their feet. Safee will be their target man. In the midfield, we should have the service of both Amar Rohidan and Shakir as defensive midfielder to provide extra support to the backline. Baddrol Bakhtiar and Amirul Hadi should at all time swap places in the midfield to support Safee. To provide extra power in counter attack, probably Wan Zack from Harimau Muda should be given a chance to show what he is made of.

The backline should have the service of Subramaniam in the right half for the first 30 minutes to neutralize Qiu Li and Duric. Mahalli can have his place back to support Hadi in the wings on the second half. Fadhli Shas is a good player but lack of leadership quality. He needs Norhafiz to play alongside him. Asrarudin Putra is a confirm player in left back.

Sharbinee is a no go and to be replaced by Apek or Farizal simply because both the latter are better in having effectively communication with the central defenders.

So Datuk Raja must go for 4-5-1 to have supremacy in midfield until Harimau Malaya ease the deficit and go back to the usual 4-4-2 (or vice versa have the bus ready in front of the goal post) after that. That’s my 2 cents.

P/s – Bring back the glory of the 70s (Harimau Malaya was ranked in the top 50s in 1978).

Selamat Pengantin Baru Siti

Ada sepasang suami isteri yang baru kahwin. Si isteri sengau. Sebelum masuk bilik tidur utk pertama kalinya si suami pun berkata pada isteri.. "Yang, kalau saya cakap kongkek maknanya..kita main yer?” Isterinya mengangguk faham.. Dan pada malam itu si suami kegersangan dan bertanya pada isterinya 'Kongkek boleh tak yang?' Si isteri pun 'ok je' so setelah penat projek mereka pun mandi bersama.

Waktu mandi isteri nya yg sengau itu pun berkata ”Yang nak kongkek” Beliau pun terperanjat.. tapi oleh kerana sayangkan isterinya..beliau pun balun isteri dia sekali lagi. Isterinya pun membiarkan sahaja.. Setelah abis isterinya mandi dan berkata dgn suami nya... ”Yang nak kongkek” Suami nya berkata..”Laa tak puas lagi ke?” Isterinya menggeleng gelengkan kepala sambil berkata ”Kongkek!Kongkek!Kongkek”! Si suami got no choice so terus melakukan lagi..

Selepas itu isterinya berkata.. ”Boleh tak awak kasi saya kongkek?” Beliau mula naik radang dan tak faham dgn nafsu isterinya. Apabila beliau hendak start lagi.. isterinya pun menahannya..

”Saya bukan nak kongkek.. Saya nak ....”

SITI & AIN’s WEDDING

Nasib baiklah both Siti & Ain tidak ada masalah sengau lagipun depa guna toothpaste Darlie. Huhu. Anyway Selamat Pengantin Baru dan congratulation on the wedding. Just a tip of advice daripada ‘wise ol’ man’. The first five years should be the most critical period in marriage sebab pasangan perlu saling kenal mengenali. There are so many tips untuk kebahagiaan rumahtangga tapi ada satu tip yang nak saya share bukan saja buat Siti & Ain, tapi juga kepada semua pasangan suami isteri (termasuk juga diri saya sendiri) - kalau satu pasangan marah maka satu lagi lebih baiklah berdiam diri. Begitu juga sebaliknya dan ini telah terbukti sejak 14 tahun perkahwinan saya.

Alternative Views! mengucapkan semoga anda berdua (++anak cucu, a lot..) bahagia sampai ke akhir hayat. Amin.

Meeting Tun

After more than couple of week of ‘hard labor’ preparation, last July 7th we finally had our annual meeting with Tun M and the rest of the AAC members. At some point during those weeks, my blood boiled so high that I barely can eat during the day and sleep at night. But Alhamdulillah, everything goes well as planned. We had a fruitful 3 ½-hour discussion on the 6th and 2 ½ hours meeting with Tun with this year theme ‘Financial Sustainability’.

The Council members expressed their gratitude towards the institution’s achievements on teaching, learning as well as in its Research & Development since the last time we met. Tun Mahathir started the ball rolling and conveyed the idea of having a University-town in UTP, a concept adapted from university-towns such as in the Cambridge and Oxford. He added, with clever planning, UTP can be a catalyst for new growth areas which eventually will attract visitors and industries. Developer should be given opportunity to invest and develop the surrounding land through building shops and residences for staff and students. This should also be alternative revenues for the institution rather than being too dependent on the students’ fee.

The Chairman were then invited all Council members to discuss openly and provided advice or suggestion on the theme ‘financial sustainability’ and other related matters that will be beneficial to UTP and its students. We talked a lot that day. Below are some of the salient points of discussion that I could not agree more: -

a) The establishment of UTP is a large investment for PETRONAS and the country. However, value created from the investment in education i.e. by its contribution to society and the nation in the area of teaching, researches and services, will take time. Therefore, any investment made for UTP is also considered an investment for the future of PETRONAS and the nation.

b) Massive and arduous staff recruitment by hiring outstanding individuals as senior faculty members is critical for UTP to reach the next plateau of excellence. In doing so, UTP should look for quality rather than quantity e.g. CALTECH has only 150 faculties but is able to make a global impact through its teaching, learning as well as R&D.

c) The 20th century Asian only played catch up in Science and Technology with their Western counterpart. With superior economic and intellectual strengths, it is quite natural that Asia viewed the West as the ‘standard of excellence’. Institute of Higher Education in Asia needs to educate the Asian students what it means to become Asians in the 21st century. Therefore, there are four (4) values need to be given a priority (i) Education Integrity; (ii) Intellectual Agility; (iii) Academic Courage; and (iv) Intrinsic Self Confidence.

– A very interesting notes by Prof Feng Da Hsuan from Tsinghua University, Taiwan. I plan to have another write up on these values in the coming post.

d) UTP is urged to establish the Technology Target Group for specific areas to ensure funding acquisition focusing within the energy industry. UTP should also identify projects and/or equipment that will enable UTP to do research and simultaneously commercialize the usage of the facility. Collaboration strategies and tactics are immensely important. It may take time but most importantly UTP need to identify the suitable target group to collaborate with. The Council members noted that there is still a gap between research in PETRONAS and UTP. Therefore, the link between UTP and PETRONAS researchers should be made very clear.

e) In a broader perspective, education and infrastructure are the two main elements for any country to be highly competitive in meeting future challenges. Education and infrastructure (aka Public Goods) will eventually encourage other economic activities to flourish. UTP is contributing to Public Good or Sectoral Good by fulfilling PETRONAS and the nation’s human capital in the oil & gas industry. PETRONAS should consider the financial gap as the value representing benefits in investing and should not be interpreted in accounting value of dollars & cents. Therefore, UTP is recommended to re-visit and re-negotiate the understanding with PETRONAS and Petroleum Research Fund (PRF) with regards to the above matter.

Obviously the item (e) above really made the day meaningful for me and UTP management. We just need to pray hard for the parent company to open up their heart and try to understand that sometimes it will not always the ‘bottom line’ that matter most.

"Uushiikum bis salati, wa maa malakat aimanuku" - "take care of the Salaat and take care of the weak people among you."

"Ummatii, Ummatii, Ummatii" - "My people, my people, my people."

And the life of the noble prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) ended.

Those are two sentences of word that Rasulullah had uttered as his last speech. Could we love him the way he loves his ummah? I remember a story of a nomadic Badwi who confessed his true love to Rasulullah saw. A Badwi once comes to see Rasulullah and told him that he did not do lots of ibadah. He however claimed that there was no other in this world that he loves (other than the Prophet). Rasulullah replied and confirm that the Badwi will be among his friend in Jannah (Heaven).

Such a short story to tell and the way I crafted it might not be as good as an Ustaz intricate it in his teaching. But then we could start to ask ourselves (i) are we a nomadic Badwi? and (ii) do we loves Rasulullah the way that we are supposed to?

One thing for sure we are no nomadic i.e. we live a good life. There are no reasons at all for not doing ibadah, taking care of our shalat and be concerned of weak people among us, to start of. Do we love Rasulullah? Do we follow his Sunnah? Ask ourselves do we really know him? How do you expect one to follow his Sunnah if we could not even be acquainted with him or his teaching?

And yet we talks a lot on love and be loved.

BERSIH 2.0 aka Kotor 200.0

Aku pernah ke Metro Manila beberapa tahun lalu atas urusan pejabat. Hari pertama di sana kami diberitahu kotaraya Manila dianggap sebagai sebuah kota demonstrasi. Jangan silap sikit maka berdemolah warga-warga Manila ini. Daripada ketidakpuasan hati kepada kerajaan, demo kerana perasaan empathy kepada negara lain, demo bogel pelajar kerana kenaikan yuran pengajian dan sbgnya.

Masuk hari kedua demo betul-betul berlaku. Kali ini demo diadakan oleh pengusaha-pengusaha Jeepney sekitar Manila yang tidak berpuashati dengan peraturan baru kerajaan. Kami pada mulanya tidak dibenarkan untuk ke Univ of Santo Tomas tetapi driver MPV Royal Starex (huhu..hanya sebuah teksi di Manila) yang tersangat mahir dengan Metro Manila dan kawasan sekitarnya, kami berjaya sampai ke destinasi tanpa melalui kawasan demonstrasi.

Akibat kejadian demo yang sering terjadi di Metro Manila, kerajaan dan pendemo-pendemo khususnya pembangkang telah bersetuju setiap aktiviti demo ini dilakukan di sebuah tempat khusus, yang tidak menganggu urusan ekonomi sekitar Metro Manila. Namun begitu sambutannya tidaklah semeriah bilamana demo diadakan di kotaraya. BERSIH 2.0

9 Julai satu lagi demo mahu diadakan di ibu kota Kuala Lumpur. Kalau BERSIH 1.0 berjaya membawa kekalahan kepada 5 negeri di Semenanjung, BERSIH 2.0 diharap dapat membawa pakatan pembangkang terus ke Putrajaya. Alasan BERSIH untuk membawa keadilan kepada sistem Pilihanraya di Malaysia jelas satu omongan kosong kerana niat sebenarnya hanyalah berasaskan politik. Itu semua orang tahu, hatta bebudak sekolah rendah pun boleh mengerti.

Impaknya terkesan. Industri pelancongan negara akan terjejas. Setahun dari sekarang akan ada yang berkata, lihat..Menteri Pelancongan Malaysia tidak reti buat kerja. Ranking Malaysia dari segi Human Rights akan merudum. Setahun lagi dari sekarang ada yang akan kata, lihat..Malaysia sama taraf dengan Libya, Syria yang mengamalkan kuku besi dan tidak pernah mengiktiraf hak-hak rakyatnya. Bila keseluruhan ekonomi merudum dan FDI tidak lagi mengalir ke Malaysia, setahun dari sekarang ada orang Manjoi yang akan kata Husni Hanadzlah patut undur dari menjadi Menteri Kewangan.

Bila Ambiga bersuara mengenai IFC (Suruhanjaya Antara Agama) semua menentang. Ambiga diam. Bila Ambiga bersuara tentang Lina Joy dan mempertikaikan hukum Syariah, semua angkat lengan. Ambiga juga terdiam. Tapi bila Ambiga twist and turn kata semua ini kononnya keadilan untuk rakyat, semua menyokong memAm-babibuta-ga. Ambiga akan hanya menjadi Ambiga kalau tidak ada orang-orang Melayu menyokong di belakang beliau. Untuk kali ini aku bersetuju dengan ulasan Ust Khazim Elias (al-hafiz) berkenaan konsep Ketuanan Melayu...

Happy Father's Day abah!

Not many show their gratitude and appreciation towards their father. I bet not many cos’ I’m not in the statistic either. In my early days, there were always distance between dad and I. At least that’s how I felt when dad displayed his seriousness, self possessed behavior and most of time anger towards us. After sometimes, well after he passed away in actual fact, I tend to understand all this so called ferocious behavior has only one intention….to let you become humane. And I thank him for that.

Father’s Day will always be a chance for us to speak out our feeling to a person called daddy be it abah, papa, ayah or even sugar daddy…to some ;-). I missed that opportunity long time ago but I do hope my children will. I will appreciate it.

House No 267 Part II

The ’under-renovation’ house no 267 is finally completed after due for more than one month. Well, there are still few minor works that need to be carried out but all in all, it could be considered as a finished job. I’m happy so does the contractor. So we eventually kawtim! I’m bit eager to get into the house after so many years and to get back to the kampong-neighbourhood kinda surrounding. Most importantly to get back to the natural life without a touch of too much modernization, thou Gugusan Manjoi tu taklah kampung mana sangat pun :-)

House no 267 wif 2 pagar yg cantek..

The kampung will soon no longer be a ’kampong’ with the recent development of two Mydin Malls, one in Sg Tapah and another in Meru. The Mall in Sg Tapah is just a walking distance while the one in Meru is like 10 minutes drive from house no 267. Sad thing was the development site is on the famous hi-chapperal field aka tempat jatuh lagi dikenang. Well, I guess that was the price that we need to pay for sustainability thou some people complaining that the development will kill off IKS in surrounding areas.

Long Day Friday

It was a long day last Friday. The day was an off day in replacement of Hari Keputeraan DYMM Agong which falls on Saturday. Tqvm Tuanku and may you be given more Hari Keputeraan. Early morning we travel to Kuala Kangsar, the so called royal town of Perak, try to be at the Sultan Azlan’s gallery as early as possible. Well, we were there at 10am on the dot, enough to have about an hour enjoying ourselves with all the items in the gallery. 20% of the time spent on Keris Taming Sari and good explanation given by En Aznan. He seems to know in details about all the Keris’ and Pedang Diraja belonging to the Sultanate of Perak.

Keris Taming Sari is a weapon owned by a Malay warrior called Hang Tuah, way back in the era of establishment of Malacca in 1500th. The Keris is so special that it was made from 20 different types of iron, of which some says that the metal came from the forging of bolts of the Ka’abah. According to En Aznan, Tuah feeling shame & guilty of not being able to get the hand of Puteri Gunung Ledang for Sultan Mahmud, had passed the Taming Sari to Tun Mamat to be given back to the Sultan. Hang Tuah wished to pursue Islamic knowledge and dissapered since then. When Malacca was invaded by the Portuguese in 1511, Sultan Mahmud retreated to Kampar, bringing with him the Keris and all Malacca State regalia. After sometimes, the Sultan successor, Raja Muzaffar was given the task to go back to Peninsular, where he eventually landed in Perak and was proclaimed the first Sultan in this State. Taming Sari and other insignia were given to him as the state regalia. The keris is kept at the Istana Iskandariah since then and only shown to people 4 times for the past dunno how many hundred of years.

Next on the list was the Lenggong Archeology museum in Kota Tampan. The Museum consists of three main places (i) the excavation artifacts and items of Kota Tampan and surrounding areas including the famous Perak Man, (ii) the museum of musical instruments and (iii) the viewing tower atop the hill at the back of the museum. Kiki asked what if skeleton of the Perak Man founded in Manjoi? I say he will be called Manjoi bro…

The kids had a good time. Amin moderated to us the Paleolithic (zaman batu), Neolithic and Metal Age era (Zaman logam) which is part of his form one History study.

We had lunch at R&R near Raja Nazrin Bridge. The Perak Man’s IC here..

We then traveled back to Ipoh for Friday prayer. I missed a turn at the hi-way and we ended up paying our toll at Simpang Pulai. So we decided to do our prayer at the An Nur mosque.

Next we traveled to Kellie Castle in Batu Gajah. We were brave enough to climb on top floor of the castle for sightseeing of the surrounding area (and imagining ourselves as Brennius, legendary king of Northumberland & Allobroges, the conqueror of Rome).

The castle sparks an idea for the name of newly bought Half Persian kitten. We call her Kellie..

Traveling back to Ipoh we stopped at the Perak Stadium for a date with Upin & Ipin only to find out that they will only be available on the next day. We were happy with Mail 2 ringgit and Ehsan si Intan Payung…

We even stopped at 'almost-complete'' 267 house..

Arrived late in the evening everybody was so tired. When we asked Raischa, she just gave us this uwekkk looks saying that she still got the energy for another round tomorrow.. ;-)

Be Vigilant Against Incremental Change

At all times, we have been cautioned against being lulled by the success in promoting c'est la mode, c'est magnifique!, beauty and attractiveness to a woman (in the making). After a period of time, it could put us in complacency and without paying a serious attention to this incremental changes; it could be a challenge of a lifetime.

Question. Have we done enough to adapt to these changes? I certainly not. My wife either. How can we survive in this new environment if we could not be able to get ourselves familiarized or become accustomed with what was needed? It’s certainly so stressful for us to handle. These will definitely not something that we are going to take lightly in doing our ‘business’ in the future.

Tragedi I, II & Sangka Baik

Auntie next door’s house was broken into on last Saturday while she and her husband went out of town. Another next door neighbor did complain about couple of people mooching around at the back of the house for the last a week or so. I did some security checking and always on the light after 11pm onward.

Guess what? The robber(s) came and robs from the front door. Fuckin’ courageously and daring move by these so called break-in robbers nowadays. I’m putting deep thot in getting the house alarmed.

My wife who made the police report grumble against the police who did not do any CSI’s kinda investigation to the house. I responded spontaneously “What do you expect?” Sounded harsh and insensitive but true enough cos’ we the neighbors should be the eyes and ears to PDRM in preventing cases. When it happens, not much we can do anymore. I guess auntie next door understands these and she smile.

TRAGEDY II

My tears flowed slowly down my cheek. I just couldn't explain this feeling exactly other than a hard stamped kinda contraction in my heart. For the longest time, I had been in a state of ok-ness but today seeing those pics, I just couldn't bear it anymore. I'm emotionally down.

It was sad to hear a muddy landslide hit Rumah Anak2 Yatim At-Taqwa that buried 25 orphanage and claimed life 16 of them. At this moment, no nice words could console father (or mother), relatives, everyone when this kind of tragedy happened. There’s no need to pinpoint, blame others either in investigating the cause of this mishap. It’s preventive that matter most. Related agency, Fire Dept, JPS, JAKIM, JAIS, anyone, please ensure enforcement and shut down building and premises located in a danger zone. Or on the other hand, be it the owner of an orphanage no-profit building or architect to a hi-status hilly tower, please decide on the definition of danger and act accordingly. Grieving should take precedence over blame, but please seek for preventive measurement in doing stuff.

Kepada ibu bapa anak2 yang terkorban, bersabarlah kerana anda telah meninggalkan anak2 yang soleh yang akan menunggu anda di depan pintu syurga, InsyaAllah. Blame it On the Gomen..

Any prospective student that wishes to join this institution need to undergo an interview session which looks into ones potential in becoming leaders of the nation. Some of the criteria that we are looking for are their level of confidence, achievement motivation, mental alertness as well as their empathy. Potential students will be given a case study as a platform for them to express their ideas and hopefully will dug out their potential, as criteria mentioned above. In preparing the case study usually some importance tips will be relayed to these students such as looking things from helicopter views, always get into the root of the problem and provide structured presentation. They can only see clearly an elephant from a distance rather than in front of their eyes cos’ big size elephant would block their sight. Well, in this case their perspective.

However, I must say from 10 students that were interviewed, you might only be able to find couple of them that could provide answer in broader perspectives. It’s somehow bothered me for quite some times now – the tendency in our students to put the responsibility to someone else and always find reasons to blame others.

Some of the reasons given might be applicable but when every time you hear the same answer – government should do this, government should do that (perhaps because of tax money payable to government), as if nobody responsible for anything other than the government, you suddently go WTF. That is considered not too bad. Wait until you hear them says government is responsible for not giving proper education, that’s why they got B in Physics. This bunch of people will eventually lead the nation and can you image if some day a policemen who get criticized for slow response to complaints, turn around and blame the government for not giving them vehicles or for the vehicles not having gas or drivers. Or a Public Servant who is not satisfactorily answering public queries about their work turns around and blames the government. Prosecutors lose an important case in the courts on the basis of a technicality and the government is blamed for not training them enough. Persons sentenced to hang and who have appealed is awaiting the conclusion of their appeal process, but the government is blamed for not hanging them.

An attitude that can turns into a bad culture. I am worried, do you? God bless us all.

Angry villagers stage serpent protest

IPOH: Residents from a village here brought a live 10-foot python to the Mentri Besar's office to highlight their fear of having to bear with unwelcome visits from slithery “guests” for the past one year. “We have been having sleepless nights as we never know when a snake would come by our beds,” said labourer C. Subramani, who acted as spokesman for the group of residents from Kampung DBI in Buntong. He said he caught the snake on Wednesday night outside his house and decided to bring it to the state secretariat building here yesterday as “proof” of their traumatic experiences.

Subramani, 51, led the group of residents to present a memorandum to the Mentri Besar yesterday. Subramani, managed to present the memorandum to the Mentri Besar's special assistant Zulkefli Abdullah outside the gate of the building. Speaking to reporters later, he claimed their previous complaints about the snakes had gone unheeded. He said Kampung DBI, a pre-independence village, consisted mostly of wooden houses occupied by low-salaried workers and retirees and was overrun with lalang.

My past caught me, yet again. I still remember the day that my father whacked me left and right for not doing stuffs mom asked me to do. Things was terrible, at least that’s how I felt during those days. As time goes by, and by the time I’m having my very own children, then only I could understand why whacking and walloping is sometimes required. Those days I would never lie. I just don’t dare at all. If dad require me to tell the truth, I would just do that without hesitation. Thou whacking and walloping will still be there as part of punishment, at least dad will feel relief. I do too. This in a way contributed in making me a person with trust and confidence.

Yesterday night, I did the same as what my dad did to me. But Amin, he just lied consistently. The worst part is he was not even know how to lie. I’m having mixed feeling of embittered and frustrated. Rotan is law and law will be there to guide you. But nobody will be able to enforce a law on you unless you do wrong. Correct?

I’ve spent 13 years of my life raising children and now I’ve a bit concern on their future. I really could not alternatively provide or decide what would be their pathway; I do not even have a clue.

Aku pun rasanya tak pernah tahu kemana hala tuju hinggalah selepas SPM. Cuma nasibku agak baik. Jiran sebelah rumah mencadangkan ITM berdasarkan keputusan peperiksaan aku yang tak berapa nak berwarna terbang (flying color). Dia dapat 8A, yang pada tahun 1989 tu antara keputusan terbaik sepanjang zaman. So aku follow… Tapi keinginan dan kesungguhan untuk mendapatkan ilmu aka life long learning membawa aku sampai ke sini. Seperti yang aku ada kini. Dan semua ini untuk mereka jua.

Aku bercadang hendak ke Stadium Sultan Azlan menyaksikan perlawanan terakhir Malaysia bertemu Pakistan petang tadi. Aku kata terakhir sebab aku agak confirm Malaysia akan menghuni tangga tercorot walaupun jika menang ke atas Pakistan. Dengan kurangnya fokus pemain2 sepanjang kejohanan dengan melepaskan gol2 padang yang mudah, tiada sebab kedudukan terakhir itu tidak patut dihuni. Walau bagaimanapun permainan yoyo pasukan kebangsaan, kuat bila bertemu pasukan kuat dan lemah bila bertemu pasukan setaraf, agak memberangsangkan setelah lama tidak bermain di peringkat antarabangsa. Kalau tak salah aku kali terakhir bilamana pasukan kebangsaan menang perak di Sukan Asia Beijing tahun lalu.

Pukul 5 hujan mencurah2, petir sabung menyabung (cheh..itu dah cam skrip drama tu). So aku gagal untuk keluar rumah. Astro pun line x ok. Alih2 bila line Astro dah ok aku tengok di Stadium dan kawasan sekitarnya hujan tak la pulak turun. Masa tu dah pukul 6.30 so aku layan je lah TV tu.

Ingatkan bolehla ke Stadium untuk mengimbau kenangan lama..huhu.

I get pretty excited after reviewing an article by a HongKies (dunno this word correct or not?) by the name of Professor Otto CC Lin. His work entitled “Environment for the 21st Century” talks on few things that need to be given proper attention for the 21st century, of which I also believe is very much applicable for mindset change (i.e. such as in the case of our AF candidate second stage friend.. huhu)

Amongst others, Prof Lin mentioning about the ubiquity or readiness of PCs and the Internet including wireless technology and mobile commerce; or in a simpler word the ability to utilize PC and its applications. As an administrator, you are not going anywhere without the knowledge in either Microsoft Word or Excell.. and I’m just talking basic here. Secondly, the influence of the co-existence between competition and cooperation. One should be able to adapt to your competitors’ strength and adopt cooperation. Strategic Alliance is the correct words. Finally (three of so many more), every knowledge workers is a source of innovation, continued and life-long needs for education. The importance to enhance and efficiently looking into problems and turn it into opportunity.

Nevertheless, in contenting the challenge of creating another so called civilization, the Malays particularly need three basic stuffs; (i) the ability to understand the situation and maintaining it, (ii) the skill to rehash or re-treat, and (iii) adaptation capability. The above stuff is so important for us to change the paradigm, by using the local moulder/template (glocal), in fulfilling ones’ desires. We should learn on how to inherit our forefather’s strength who never surrender in defending the Malays civilization thou they have been colonized for hundreds of years.

Yingge Porengge Pandy Kuttey? (Read “How Are You Piglet?”). I guess that why everyone, especially Mr Sec Ku Nan, feeling the heat today, as hot as the current weather climate (here). Anuvaji The Boss pun tak patut la cakap camtu kat Bos Ku Nan tu kan? Kalam yang keluar dari pemimpin dianggap sebagai hala tuju, aspirasi kepada perjuangan lebih2 lagi kalau ianya melibatkan ahli politik yang disegani. Lainlah kalau ianya datang dari pemimpin kelas kedua cam KJ. Ketua Pemuda Congostan, KJ (gambar) berkata, cercaan tersebut sangat kurang ajar dan tidak sepatutnya keluar dari mulut seorang pemimpin yang bercita-cita besar seperti Anuvaji. Hahahaha..

Kasihnya Ibu (here) Hati mana yang tak tersentuh melihat penderitaan seorang ibu mencari mayat anaknya yang masih belum ditemui setelah hilang dibawa arus deras lebih dari dua hari yang lalu. Hari Ibu yang disambut 8 Mei ini agaknya terasa panjang bagi keluarga Wan Azleela dan ayah mereka Syed Ahmad. Semoga penderitaan yang mereka tanggung akan menghapuskan segala dosa. Semoga kematian ketiga2 anak kecil mereka itu akan menjadi benteng kepada mereka daripada jilatan api neraka yang membakar.

Selamat Hari Ibu buat ibuku arwah Siti Aminah, ibu saudaraku Asiah, Mommy in law ku, ibu kepada anak2ku, ibu-ibu angkatku dan semua manusia yang bergelar ibu di muka bumi ini. Bercerita tentang ibuku, beliau seorang yang pandai menilik nasib melalui kad. Tidak percaya? Kabinet Sarawak, Kabinet Tanpa Orang Muda

Kenyataan Ketua Pemuda PAS Negeri Sarawak

Dewan Pemuda PAS Negeri Sarawak melalui Ketua Pemudanya Saudara Mohammad Arifiriazul mengucapkan tahniah kepada barisan kabinet Kerajaan Sarawak yang baru sahaja diisytiharkan oleh Ketua Menteri (KM), Pehin Sri Hj. Abdul Taib Mahmud pada 3hb Mei 2011 yang lepas. Kecekapan KM dalam melantik barisan menteri beliau dalam masa kurang sebulan adalah sesuatu yang amat dialu-alukan bagi memastikan kelancaran pentadbiran negeri. Pemuda PAS Sarawak juga mendoakan agar barisan kabinet negeri ini akan menjalankan tugas mereka sebagai pemimpin dengan penuh amanah dan berintegriti.

Dalam masa yang sama, Pemuda PAS Sarawak juga berpandangan bahawa pemilihan barisan kabinet baru Sarawak jelas menampakkan kelemahan BN Sarawak yang amat ketandusan pemimpin pelapis dari kalangan generasi muda Sarawak. Dalam kerancakan pembangunan negeri yang diwar-warkan sebelum ini, tentu sekali pandangan dan pendekatan golongan muda amat diperlukan dalam memastikan kejayaan semua projek pembangunan yang cuba dilaksanakan. Kerajaan negeri di bawah pimpinan KM dan BN Sarawak jelas tidak menghargai suara dan peranan penting golongan muda Sarawak dalam membangunkan negeri bertuah ini, malahan, mereka lebih selesa untuk menggunakan kemenangan ‘hebat’ mereka kali ini untuk meneruskan dominasi golongan berkepentingan agar segala penyelewengan hasil negeri dalam mandat yang lepas akan terus didiamkan dan disembunyikan. Malah, adalah tidak keterlaluan untuk kita nyatakan di sini bahawa kabinet baru Sarawak ini tidak ubah seperti kabinet boneka KM yang dianggotai oleh para menteri yang ‘loyalists’ dan ‘yes men’ kepada beliau. Ini sememangnya satu kerugian besar kepada negeri dan rakyat Sarawak seluruhnya.

Teresa Kok, Ronnie Liu, Ean Yong Hian Wah contohnya memegang portfolio pelaburan, industri, kerajaan tempatan dan kilang2 (factories) sedangkan Datuk Dr Hassan hanya ditugaskan menjaga budaya Melayu dan Hal Ehwal Islam dalam negeri Selangor. Yaakop Sapari pula ditugaskan dengan portfolio pertanian manakala Iskandar Abdul Samad pulak cuma jaga setinggan (squatters).

Di Pulau Pinang Lim Guan Eng yang juga Ketua Menteri memegang portfolio tanah, pembangunan tanah dan keusahawanan. Prof Ramasamy dengan State Economic Planning, Education and Human Resources, Science, Technology and Innovation. YB Chow Kon Yeow Local Government and Traffic Management. Lim Hock Seng pula mewakili Public Works, Utilities and Transport, Phee Boon Poh menjaga Health and Welfare, Caring Society and Environment, Wong Hon Fai ditugaskan dengan Town and Countryside Planning, Housing. Abdul Malik Abdul Kassim hanya dapat memegang portfolio Hal Ehwal Agama, Domestic Trade dan Consumer Affairs.

Di Perak setelah tamatnya PRU-12, Dato' Ngeh dilantik menjadi Exco Kanan Negeri. Beliau juga menjaga kewangan, infra, public utilities, energy and water, dan non-Islamic affairs. Kor Ming saudaranya bertanggungjawab dengan Education, Local Government, Housing and Public Transport. YB Sungkai A. Sivanesan menjaga kesihatan, environment dan HR manakala YB Thomas Su Keong Siong dengan Higher Education, Science, Technology and Communications. Katak2 PKR Jamaluddin Mohd Radzi pula hanya ditugaskan menjaga entrepreneur development and cooperative, agriculture and trade. Mohd Osman Mohd Jailu sebagai exco pelancongan, pembangunan manusia dan NGO. YB Lubok Merbau Mohd Zainuddin Mohd Yusof pula hanya menjaga kepentingan berugama, wanita dan kebajikan.

Kabinet Bayangan PKR Sarawak pun 2X5 gak la..

Why Sultan & King Required?

May 1st Hari Pekerja, I was in Tg Malim. At half past noon, rain poured down heavily that we’ve decided to cancel an outdoor outing that evening. Thus, this posting...

I was kinda called to answer a question in fb few days back with regards to the importance of having Sultan & King in Malaysia. The question is a bit provocative, less aggressive in a sense but since it was posted as a wall in fb, which requires argument, I replied. Kesetiaan kepada Raja dan Negara is one of Rukun Negara or National Decree which was created by MAGERAN right after the 13th May tragedy. It shaped the ideology of being loyal to the Sultan; a leader who is believed will lead to peace and harmony to the country. Rukun Negara was taught from the very beginning, as far as I remember, since my early kindergarten days. So when my fb friend claimed that he was never been taught of all these, well I guess macam crite Seniman Bujang Lapok, his teacher died after only teaches the words alif, be, te and se…

I reminded my fb friend of the book that we’ve read in the State “Government by the People – basic version”, might be irrelevant in the context of Malaysian political climate, simply because the foundation in establishing this country is so much different from the US. I jokingly added that our English teacher Dr Alice Frantz not even knows what Rukun Negara is all about. This also reminded me of the benchmarking exercise that we’ve conducted during the Transformation Studies back in 2009. A Professor in Stanford once says, ideally lots of institutions wish to be like Stanford due to its standard not only in teaching and learning, but also their achievements in research and commercialization. But Stanford took more than 100 years to reach the place that they are enjoying now. It was not a sudden, magical flip - over the night development and attainment. There were steps need to be taken, hill need to be climbed before one could reach the top. The Professor added, in stepping, climbing or even running, institution must ensure people are moving together, simply because all initiative are based on teamwork and solidarity. We understand from the benchmarking exercise that the methodology in doing things right is more importance than just follow what you see or what you hear.

The post did not stop there. Another friend of friend cynically added up saying the Sultan and King is required because they need to utilize people tax money. Well, I know one place in Congo that does not need Sultan and their people need not paying any tax. The shaman, who led the tribe, only wears selampit or cawat besi. Thus, no money required except for daun-daun kering and besi2 buruk. Ha ha ha… And I happen to have their contact no. should somebody need to migrate to that ‘no tax paying’ country.

In view of the above, I would also like to quote two hadiths via an article written by Tuan Guru Haji Hadi in Haraqah issue May 2011: -

Allah berfirman yang antara lain bermaksud “Kerana tanggungan engkau (Muhammad SAW) hanyalah menyampaikan hokum-hukum yang Kami turunkan kepadamu; dan urusan Kami menghitungkan dan membalaskan amal mereka” (Surah al-Ra’d: 40);

Dan seterusnya Allah berfirman dengan maksud “Janganlah engkau (Muhammad SAW) mencerca benda-benda yang mereka sembah selain Allah, kerana mereka kelak akan mencerca Allah secara melampaui batas dengan ketiadaan ilmu pengetahuan” (Surah Al-An’am: 108)

P/s – Kesopanan & Kesusilaan should also be instilled especially when expressing your message to others. People say illness came from whatever you put in your mouth, but stupidity always comes from mouth that does not have any insurance ;-) ….

“Looks like me, sound like me but it’s not me…koreck, koreck..”

We laughed big time as we walked thru the Omega watches duty free shop in KLIA last two days. Omega is a brand to be reckoned now I guess. Dr Shark, Sham and myself we were on our way for another round of interview session in Sabah. At 6 we checked in at the Promenade, just a walking distance hotel from the famous Philippines market. I did not off my iPhone due to the ‘jailbreak’ apps during the flight from KL, only to discover it could not be used once we touched down KK. Maxis in KK requested RM100 and possibility of losing all data to reinstall the phone. I had a long day on day one.

On day two we interviewed 73 total nos of potential private student for UTP. Some are good some as usual unable to express themselves comfortably. Some are local some even need 8 hours to travel to the venue. At 5 we were at the market eagerly but calmly in doing necessary shopping. I’ve spent some for ‘umpan’ too..ha ha ha

Day three, I’m writing this post on board the flight back to KL. I could not offer any pic due to the absence of my iPhone to assist. Anyway one pic could really tell thousand word…

We Won..

After a lapse of 5 years, the winning trophy of KSKKU bowling tournament came back to me. We won the team event with a stumping 80 pins ++ over the second team winner (hehe..no other than Khalid Ka’ab’s team - the individual winner goes to him thou).

I did not play my usual in the first game but came back strongly for the 2nd and third frame. Surprisingly enough members of the team, Jai, Midi and Sham played extremely good. Hamidi even came second best for individual all round.

I guess the more you speak the same language and using the same tone in communications, the less character and meaning that would be received by the counterpart. Cuti hari Keputeraan Sultan Perak ni aku menghabiskan masa memantau kontraktor rumah 267 menyiapkan kerja. Seperti yang aku jangkakan, banyak defect sini sana yang memerlukan perhatian. Kalau tidak dipantau you give money, gold sekali pun you’ll get monkey in return.

Dalam aku membelek surat khabar melihat senarai penerima-penerima Datukship daripada Sultan Perak, ada dua penerima yang menarik perhatian. Dua penerima dengan dua watak yang berbeza.

Cikgu Rauhi, as I knew him, was our Penolong Kanan HEP, sikit atas dari Cikgu Ayub guru disiplin kami. Cikgu Rauhi ni aku kenali dan aku ingati sebab selalu kena starlite a.k.a guna jari tengah letak kat dahi pastu gedebus, starlite satu. Pasti pening sekejap tengok bintang. Cikgu Rauhi ni tegas orangnya tetapi boleh dibuat kawan melawak. Kira tak la berapa takut sangat. Ada satu hari tu bila aku sama-sama dengan budak-budak sekili pergi pertandingan silat olahraga, dia rupanya wasit yang bertugas. Apalagi esoknya tengok muka dia pun tak berani. Hehe..wasit tu..sekali pelempang seminggu leh demam.

Lama rasanya tak dengar cerita Cikgu Rauhi, tau-tau dah dapat DPMP. Tahniah Datuk Cikegu Rauhi. Cikgu Rauhi ni tegas dan penuh dengan prinsip. Dalam ketegasannya dia berjaya membuatkan guru-guru dan para pelajar in a way tunduk kepada arahannya.

En Jamil Mat Kasa pulak sekarang ni bos besar Yayasan Perak. Rasanya baru lagi dia di position tu. Sebelum ke jawatan tersebut dia bagai digantung tak bertali. Agak lama Yayasan Perak tiada Pengurus Besar selepas Dr Saluddin. Agaknya tiada yang berkelayakan atau En Jamil dianggap tidak menepati ‘kriteria’ secara politiknya.

En Jamil terlibat semasa rundingan penjualan Sekolah Antarabangsa Ipoh (IIS) pada lewat 2004, satu initiatif Yayasan untuk keluar dari permasalahan kewangan dan cuba untuk fokus kepada ladang kelapa sawit di Sarawak & Indonesia. IIS pula yang ditubuhkan sekitar 1960an, pada masa itu memang sedang membangun. Pembangunan memerlukan dana dan Pengurusan Yayasan Perak melihat initiatif ini sebagai pembaziran, juga gagal melihat IIS muncul sebagai mercu pendidikan untuk menarik pelabur ke negeri ini. Aku yang juga eksekutif IIS pada masa itu mengambil jalan mudah keluar dari syarikat kerana tidak mahu bertuankan sebuah syarikat pemaju perumahan untuk menerajui IIS. Bagi aku syarikat pemaju perumahan tidak relevan langsung dengan pendidikan selain untuk menjana keuntungan daripadanya. Kurang dari setahun, ramai ibu bapa mengeluh dengan kenaikan yuran itu dan ini. Segala kemudahan yang dijanjikan sebelum pengambilalihan tidak ditunaikan. Aku cuma mampu tersenyum kerana semuanya sudah aku sedia maklum.

Dalam perkara ini bagi aku En Jamil telah gagal dalam membawa pembaharuan kepada Yayasan dan anak2 syarikat di bawahnya. At least bagi pendapat peribadi aku. Beliau kulihat kurang tegas, bergerak mengikut irama yang dimainkan kuat oleh ‘pemuzik’ yang kebanyakanya dari kalangan politikus dan beliau juga agak kurang berwawasan. Mungkin YAB MB memberikan jawatan tersebut kerana tahu beliau tidak akan lama menjawatnya.

Dua watak yang berbeza dari pandangan mata aku. Walaubagaimana pun tahniah atas DPMP, Yang Berusaha Datuk-datuk..

This is the case of people using Statutory Declaration (SD) as if it has no implicate value to the law. People like Raja Petra (RPK) should clearly should not be given a space, what more a platform to talk. I wonder whether this will be a comeback for RPK i.e. coming back home after no longer being financed by the Opposition. Its either he is too stupid to declare Rosmah’s existence during the crime scene (read "I no longer accept the story. I think it's quite impossible. It can't be that the prime minister's wife would want to go to such place; it's a jungle. I'm imagining, climbing up the hill, going into the jungle at night, at 12 midnight, I think it's quite impossible,") or there were so many stupid cow head Malaysian out there that follows his No Hold Barred factory of liar. Can’t he figure out in the first place before putting up a SD? So now when you hear people gossiping about Haji Hadi and Najib berpelukan-pelukan, you can put up SD saying they are gay?

When a gasing being smacked by another gasing it will keep spinning but to the other direction. Ladies and gentlemen, that is RPK showing his true colors. Full of bullshit. You RPK are so irrelevant, no more than a pighead liar. Pigi mati daa…

Or, is this RPK's pension scheme altogether? mmm...?

P/s - I however, feels that all the above should not stop us from investigating the motives of Altantuya's murder. Wonder why it is still ignored?

Raja Petra Revealed his SD

Kuala Lumpur, Apr 14 - Malaysia Today founder and editor, Raja Petra Kamaruddin, has revealed that his statutory declaration (SD) linking Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak with the murder of Altantuya Shaariibuu was made based on the information and demands by several individuals aimed at preventing Najib from becoming Prime Minister. He said he had never accused the prime minister or his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor of being involved in the murder of the Mongolian woman and that he no longer believed the story of these individuals.

He added that these individuals were connected to several politicians including Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and that they had put pressure on him to do what he did to prevent Najib from taking over from Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi who was relinquishing the post.

"I no longer accept the story. I think it's quite impossible. It can't be that the prime minister's wife would want to go to such place; it's a jungle. I'm imagining, climbing up the hill, going into the jungle at night, at 12 midnight, I think it's quite impossible," he said in an exclusive interview with TV3 Group Editor Datuk Ashraf Abdullah in Perth, Australia, recently. The interview was aired through TV3's primetime news, Buletin Utama, Wednesday night. Raja Petra said in the SD he made on June 18, 2008, he had stated that he received information from several individuals claiming that Rosmah was at the scene where Altantuya was murdered.

"In my SD, I said that these people had told (me) and for these people to come forward and tell their stories, and for the authority to investigate and call these people. "That is what I've written in the SD. I've never raised any accusation. I didn't say I knew that the prime minister's wife was at the scene at that time," he said. He said: "I did not say. I did not make such accusation. All I said was that there were people telling stories but it's up to the authorities to investigate the matter further, and for these people to come forward. "And I've mentioned the names of these people. I mentioned their names during the police investigation," he said, identifying the individuals as Nik Azmi Nik Daud, John Pang and blogger Din Merican. He said a military intelligence officer known as Colonel Azmi Zainal Abidin had also given similar information.

Mimpi sering mendatangi kita pada malam hari. Ada yang indah ada juga yang sebaliknya. Tapi tuhan maha mengetahui jadi dibangunkanNya kita setiap hari lalu diberikan kepada kita siang supaya dapat kita merealisasikan mimpi indah di malam hari.

Tapi siang esok dan untuk beberapa hari lagi aku masih mahu bermimpi. Jangan kejutkan aku kerana tiada apa yang hendak aku realisasikan. Mungkin aku perlukan ’pause’ yang sangat-sangat aku perlukan selama ini. Pause dari segala hiruk pikuk kerja yang tidak pernah ada batasannya, tidak pernah kurang timbunannya. Kejutkan saja aku minggu depan kerana walaupun minggu depan menjanjikan suasana hiruk pikuk itu, tapi aku pasti ianya penuh dengan kemanisan.

Siang tadi saja aku telah menanyakan soalan yang aku sendiri tiada upaya untuk berfikir A untuk jawapannya. Apatah lagi B, C dan seterusnya? Ahh, perlu saja aku lansungkan mimpi itu dan berharap aku akan mempunyai cukup tenaga untuk merealisasikannya bila fajar menyinsing. Aku perlukan tongkat, perlukan segala bantuan kerana aku tidak mampu untuk berdiri sendiri. Itu aku pasti...zzzzzzzzzzz (dah lolap dah..huhu)

Tulen Bang...

Ada dua perkara yang boleh membuatkan tahap ketinggian BP (atau radiasi Fukushima) aku menurun. Pertamanya bilamana aku mengadap benda2 yang menyejukkan hati, quran, muka anak-anak aku, gambar arwah mak dsbgnya, atau yang keduanya teringatkan kisah2 lama. After a while baru aku faham, yang ada pada aku hanyalah cerita2 lama untuk membuatkan aku senyum semula menghadapi hari esok.

Ayat-ayat di atas takde kene mengena dengan tajuk..huhu.

Ada beberapa isu berkenaan tulen berlaku 2-3 hari ni. Pertamanya kisah telur plasu (fake egg) yang dijumpai di Pulau Pinang. Walaupun Menteri Kesihatan baru-baru ini mengeluarkan kenyataan bahawa telur yang disangka palsu itu mempunyai tahap protein yang sama dengan telur yang keluar dari ayam, wife aku dah tak berani lagi beli telur daripada groceries store. Kalau yang dari Jusco, Tesco buleh katanya. Telur palsu itu diperbuat daripada pelbagai bahan termasuk kalsium karbonat, kalsium klorida, gelatin dan beberapa campuran bahan kimia. Asalnya daripada China (teringat kes susu Melamine yang mengakibatkan lebih 53 ribu kanak-kanak China merana) dan telur palsu ini pembikinannya hanya memerlukan 0.55 Yuan sekilogram berbanding 5.6 Yuan/kg bagi telur asli.

Aku rasa yang berani buat benda bukan2 ni semuanya takde telor…

Ada satu lagi kes palsu dan tulen ni. Yang ini pulak memerlukan imaginasi dan ’kesungguhan’ yang tinggi untuk kita menilai ketulenannya. Dah lama tak tengok cite berwarna ni tapi untuk yang ini aku usahakan jugak. Dapatlah yang 1.47 saat punya tapi takpelah sebab bukan itu tujuan aku sebenarnya pun. Aku cuma nak memastikan keauthentication pelakunya. Setelah belek punya belek, in summary, kalau pun ada pelakon yang serupa, pelakon tu memanglah hebat sebab gaya, rupa cara senyum memang macam yang empunya diri. Tapi aku percaya innocent only until proven guilty. Lagipun memang banyak yang palsu di Malaysia ni.

The Malaysian Insider difahamkan kedua-dua mereka ditahan kerja berkuat kuasa hari ini. “Proses tahan kerja ini adalah bagi membantu melicinkan penyiasatan dalaman berhubung perkara ini dan tindakan tahan kerja ini juga adalah sehingga siasatan dalaman selesai dijalankan. “Tindakan tahan kerja tersebut dibuat di bawah Peraturan 43 Peraturan-Peraturan Pegawai Awam (Kelakuan dan Tatatertib) (Pindaan) 2002 iaitu penahanan kerja bagi maksud penyiasatan,” kata SPRM dalam satu kenyataan dikeluarkan petang ini.Kenyataan itu menambah, hasil siasatan dalaman iitu setelah selesai kelak akan dibentangkan di Jawatankuasa Aduan SPRM. Pagi semalam, Ahmad Sarbani Mohamed, penolong pengarah Kastam Diraja Malaysia, ditemui mati di tingkat satu pejabat SPRM Wilayah Persekutuan Jalan Cochrane.

For the past week, people talks a lot about organizational structure changes of the institution. Looking at the chart I must admit we are no longer having a horizontal communication kinda structure but rather lateral. Top management is in a higher hierarchical rank while low management sits lower. Nevertheless, changes are good for the institution as it grow large, complex and specialized. I even heard DVC will have an executive as their personal assistance. Don’t get me wrong. I incredibly grateful for the changes being made cos’ we will be specialized in whatever we do plus more people to assist us with our daily work. Lots of new position have been created to cater for the specialized communication.

Do I speak the same language, singing the same song with the changes?

Nope, not yet but I sure will.

Do I feel awkward, feeling stressed with the communication that will take place?

I guess I’ll life with that..

Do I able to take more challenging task, be promoted?

Yup :-)

Do I able to take up extra work if promoted?

HELL NO!!!

Changes will be there from time to time. I just need to adopt, adapt and wake up from my comfort zone. No less and no more. Another thing, some says without communication planning is planned to fumble, a relationship is destined to fail. So to avoid it please consider the following: -

- First and foremost be a Good Listener;

- Do not transform dialogue into monologue, in other words, don't be selfish;

- Express yourself expressively;

- Forgive One Another (It is hard to do but once you do it feels good);

- Love is a sacrifice; and

- Leave little notes to your partner (A sweet idea).

Bowling 2011

Korang ingat dak permainan lama-lama. Permainan masa kecik-kecik dulu. Macam-macam permainan yang kita mainkan. Seronok sungguh masa tu. Ada main guli, main polis sentri, main galah panjang dsbgnya. Dalam permainan guli ni, hitting the marble in a game of guli requires ones skill and focus. A player needs to knock opponent’s guli out of the circle with their own marble. Sometime it will knock out opponent’s guli for good, sometime it may break our own guli.

In the game of polis sentri, you need all the strength needed. You need to run, you need to hide and seek, you need to use tactical and strategy to survive. It will definitely sharpen your ambush skills. Another group will also sharpen their hiding skills in the most unnoticeable places it can be.

Coming 24th I will need all the skill, focus and strength for another round of bowling. I used to be the overall Champion back in 2005 in my first year with the institution. We even won the group event. But then the strength and focus faded away and Fadil Ariff was nowhere near the podium since then. Since I was not supposed to put my thought anymore on the Transformation, I guess I can be a big time contender for the event. Ipoh Parade, here I come…

P/s – We’ll have UTP family day on the 24th, but 21st should be more exciting…

UNI-VERSITY TOWNS

I had often wondered why uni-versity towns like Cambridge and Oxford do not develop in Malaysia after we build uni-versities in places far from the towns. After much study and thinking things over I have concluded that it is because uni-versities, particularly Government uni-versities, build all the shops within the campus and probably operate them as well. The residences for the students and staff are all built by the Uni-versity.

Developers find no opportunity for developing the surrounding land through building shops and residences for staff and students. There will only be uni-versity campuses and no uni-versity towns. Uni-versities can be catalysts for new growth areas. That was how Cambridge and Oxford towns were founded. With clever planning these uni-versity towns can be very attractive and can attract visitors, especially relatives of the students coming to visit them. Maybe those in charge of uni-versity funding and development should think about this.

Teringat Angola. The uni-versity campus is so beautifully landscaped that it was built within a compound of half golf course and half residential areas. You’ll find a main road in between campus buildings, right from downtown Angola to Zoelner Golf course. Angola, a small lakes-ville countryside-picturesque town, is located in the northeast corner of Indiana. It’s like an hour drive from Fort Wayne (2nd best place in Indiana I guess), Kalamazoo (There were lots of Malaysian in the Michigan State Univ in 90s) and about 2 hours drive from Metropolitan Chicago (where you’ll get all your halal daging ayam from Devon Street). Indianapolis, Cleveland, Detroit, and Toledo are also only about three hours away via Interstate 69.

Angola is just like Tronoh. My first impression upon arrival at that town was a quite, peaceful town and perhaps a place for ol’ folk untuk menghabiskan saki baki hidup. It was a normal view in Angola if you find old lady doing their shopping all by themselves. If you go downtown for entertainment, you’ll find few good places to lepaking; Brokaw for instant is the place to release your stress watching movies. Well, we usually rent videos from Scotts at $0.52 cents per movie (kalau movie berwarna tu charge mahal skit ha ha ha). Further, you’ll find Bowling Alley; place to heat up yourself during winter (Unnerving feeling occurs and the need to disappear when some red-neck started to bowl foolishly. Further up, you’ll find rows of shops at the left and right side of the main street. It was also part of an entertaining routine for us to shop at Wall Mart, Myers only to refund back the goods purchased within a month time (taking advantage of 30days no-question-asked money back guarantee policy).

Taking up north, you could find beautiful lake view of Pokagon State Park. We used to have our bbq at the open camping area. You can do swimming, fishing, jungle tracking or just enjoy the nature. In a tragedy back in 1995, one of our Bangladeshi girlfriends drowned in that Pokagon lake. There are so many lakes in that State Park. I once tried to explain that to a librarian lady by saying “Oo.. there got many nice beaches there..”(which sounded like bitches…and she goes like “Oo…Ok?” frowning).

Further north, you could do shopping at value price from the outlets at Freemont. Levi’s, Reebok, Guess & Fossils, Queen Anne (sudu garpu yang mahal), you name it. In Levi’s, I barely could find pant of my size. :p~~~

Angola is populated by about 17 to 18 thousand of many ethnicity; Asian, African American (students only), Amish (yang tidak menggunakan enjin dalam hidup), the Whites and the famous Red-neck. The Uni-versity community is 10% of Angola’s population. No doubt Angola is the best fun place to live, safe and comfortable (at least when you not bump into the red-neck)

P/s – The uni really lighten up the surrounding areas. Wonder our neighbor Bob still there finishing his Bachelor Degree at 40++.

Turut diserahkan kepada pihak polis adalah seutas jam tangan jenama ‘Omega’ yang didakwa milik pemimpin tersebut.

Abdul Rahim yang hadir di Ibu Pejabat Polis Bukit Aman kira-kira pukul 5 petang disoal siasat hingga pukul 9.45 malam ini. Beliau ketika ditemui pemberita memberitahu, semua bukti yang ada sudah diserahkan kepada polis. Katanya, segala keterangan yang diberi kepada polis penting untuk membantu siasatan dan menunjukkan siapa aktor dalam rakaman video seks itu. “Harap bukti asli yang diberi boleh disiasat secara forensik, sekiranya ada penipuan atau tidak. Kalau perlu, ketulenan itu boleh dibuktikan dengan bantuan FBI (Biro Siasatan Persekutuan). “Saya berharap, keterangan ini dapat membantu mempercepatkan proses siasatan. Jika kerajaan setuju, suruhanjaya diraja perlu ditubuhkan bagi membolehkan siasatan terperinci dibuat dan memuaskan hati semua pihak,” kata Abdul Rahim selepas selesai memberi keterangan.

Marketing is an activities and processes for creating, communicating, delivering, and exchanging offerings that creates value for stakeholders. In doing so there are few main elements need to be taken care of; product, price, place, promotion and perhaps timing too. In a process of creating, communicating and delivering the so called value, one must not overdo it. Sometimes overdoing could backfire, could ruin the whole things. 3 minggu lagi sebelum pilihanraya Sarawak adalah masa yang paling sesuai untuk mengeluarkan semua peluru yang ada dan jangan terkejut kalau nanti ada yang lebih ”surprise....” bak kata Eric Deco deco deco.

Tapi aku lagi la surprise sebab yang buat cerita DSAI dan pelacur warga asing tu dulu pernah dilabelkan ”kalau tiang letrik pakai skirt pun dia tibai....”. Sukar mempercayai semua ini. Womanizer, gay, mole... pakej yang lengkap. Tapi ’methodology’ yang digunapakai kurang effective. Tak solid, tak kukuh sekukuh tiang letrik tadi membuatkan ’finding’nya very questionable. Tambahan pulak dah dekat nak pilihanraya ni. Apa-apa pun kita jangan melompat (biarkan aje Cashvinder sama Jamaluddin melompat), kita serahkan pada hakim yang arif lagi bijaksana untuk menilai semua ini. Panggil FBI, CSI New York ke, Lieutenant Horatio buat penelitian atau tubuhkan saja Suruhanjaya Diraja. Semua pun sekarang suka Suruhanjaya Diraja ni...kes Beng Hock, kes VK Lingam, kes Soi Lek.. kes Hantu Kak Limah balik rumah dsbgnya.

So lagi sekali masa aku driving balik dari kerja aku terfikir semula kisah si lelaki Y dan si tiang letrik, lalu aku letakkan diri aku in Anwar’s shoes. Lama-lama aku jadi kesian dengan dia. Umur dah lanjut, kekuatan fizikal dah kurang. Musuh politik depan belakang, kawan baik hari ini esok boleh jadi musuh no 1. Tekanan politik bermula dengan penjelasan tennis-mate Nalla, tangisan Umi Hafilda, keluar pulak buku Tun Mahathir. Sekarang si tiang letrik pulak dah keluarkan peluru. Series tu beb! Mesti dia penat balik rumah macam aku jugak. Tapi macam air di lautan, kalau di tepian pantai Danga Bay tenang saja airnya, bila dah ke tengah sikit mulalah bergelora, lagi tengah Laut China Selatan silap haribulan tsunami melanda. Anwar hebat sebab katanya kalau tak berani di lambung ombak jangan berumah di tepi pantai. Kalau takut dengan risiko usah bicara pasal perjuangan.

P/s - Aku simpati dengan DSAI walaupun masih tidak sependapat dengan perjuangannya.

When Women Smoke

I had an engagement with four UiTM students seeking my views on the institution’s undergoing Transformation. It was part of their study to understand how we define the Transformation in term of Mindset Change and Engagement & Communication. I then explained the concept of System that leads to culture, of which eventually will shape one’s mindset. System, I added consists of people, the process as well as policy and guidelines. I stressed a system without a dedicated and skillful people, well defined process and good policy will not gonna be efficient. Thus, unable to create a culture and later change the mindset. I quoted Mintzberg’s concept of management, a concept we tried to implement in the Transformation, make it as part of our day to day process and support it as a policy thru KPIs. I reiterated by saying the culture and mindset change would have been a mess without proper planning, leading, organizing and most importantly control.

But then I guess I failed to explain the concept of peer/situational superiority that might be able to offset the system. As I drove back home that day, I saw a lady in an old Saga with 3 children (of her perhaps), and she smoke. Government might have spend millions for ads, campaign etc to ensure good system in place i.e. health awareness and anti smoking campaign, but nothing might come close if the reasons were to be able to socialize, to avoid gaining weight, to deal with stress/depression or even a sign of control of one’s lives.

For ages, male has dominated the world of tobacco but of recent, peers and situation has changed the mentality of women and relate smoking to glamour, slimness and lured young women especially to the habit. In years to come, it will become culture and eventually will change the paradigm of mindset. In 10 years, perhaps one might feel awkward seeing women without cigarette in their hand. Although WHO estimates only 7% increase for women smoker in Asia (as compared to 48% for men), but with daring advertisement, it could represent incredible untapped market for tobacco manufacturer.

And I failed to explain all those to the students.

Super Kinta

Super Kinta bakal dihidupkan semula

IPOH 16 Mac - Lebih 10 tahun lalu, kompleks membeli belah Super Kinta di sini merupakan pasar raya paling popular dan menjadi tumpuan orang ramai di bandar raya ini. Ini kerana kedudukannya yang strategik di tengah-tengah pusat bandar dan terletak di bangunan Pasar Besar Ipoh yang turut menempatkan perniagaan pasar basah serta pelbagai gerai jualan lain. Namun, entah di mana silapnya, Super Kinta terpaksa 'gulung tikar' lapan tahun lalu berikutan kemunculan beberapa kompleks membeli belah yang lebih besar dan moden di bandar raya ini.

Dalam tempoh lapan tahun itu, ada beberapa syarikat pelabur, termasuk dari luar yang berminat memajukan bangunan Super Kinta itu, tetapi tiada satu pun yang menjadi kenyataan sehingga kini. Kini, harapan penduduk bandar raya ini untuk melihat bangunan berusia 29 tahun itu kembali beroperasi mungkin menjadi realiti setelah Dewan Perniagaan Melayu Malaysia (DPMM) Perak dan Persatuan Komputer dan Digital Perak berminat untuk memajukannya.

I guess it’s about time Ipoh’s long forgotten building, Super Kinta be renovated to bring back its glorious days. Tebing Sungai Kinta tu pun dah diberikan nafas baru inikan pulak bangunan yang pernah satu ketika dulu menjadi mercu tanda bandaraya Ipoh. Memori dan Super Kinta sangat-sangat relevan pada aku dan gagal untuk dipisahkan. Sejak pandai naik bas ke pekan Ipoh, itulah satu-satunya tempat paling afdal untuk ditujui selain dari Lokin, Bazar Bulat dan Restoran Vanggey. Lokin dengan Bazar Bulat tempat tuntuk mencari barangan sukan, cari kasut bola, jamu-jamu mata tengok orang jual ubat dsbgnya. Kalau Vanggey tu nasik ganja la paling top masa tu (huh! Berapa banyak kolesterol tersimpan daa..)

Lokin dah beralih-alih tempat sejak mula-mula diperkenalkan. Dulu tempatnya di lorong belakang bangunan Bazar Lam Looking, sekarang dah dikenali dengan nama Memory Lane (hari minggu dan pada setiap malam). Tempatnya pulak amat strategik, luas dan mudah dikunjungi. Bazar Bulat tu sedang direnovate agaknya nak jadikan bujur pulak kot? Nasi ganja Vanggey masih berdiri teguh.

Super Kinta lain skit. Itulah tempat untuk bershopping (konon) juga tempat untuk berdating. Kadang-kadang itulah juga tempat melepak dan tengok-tengok SYJ sama MAY jamming lagu-lagu rock masa tu. Kalau keluar dengan budak-budak Sekili hujung minggu, habis je pusing Super Kinta sama Yik Foong (Daim sama Apit rasanya suka ‘melencong’ ke Jubilee Park), pusat penjaja Taman Kanak-kanak Ipoh tu la tempat lepaknya sebab ada gerai si Pedok. Padang Kanak-kanak tu kami la yang ‘berkuasa’. Bebudak sekolah Izzudin sama STAR angkat muka pun tak berani. Malamnya lepak pulak di gerai Nuar Congo di Medan Selera depan bangunan keretapi. Sekali sekala pi pulak libur kat Rex sama Majestic nonton wayang kungfu Cina.

Padang kanak-kanak tu sekarang dah jadi port Indon sama Bangla berkuasa. Aku yang sekali sekala lalu kat situ pulak yang dah tak berani angkat muka. Gerai selera depan bangunan keretapi tu pulak dah lama melingkup. Dulu ada satu kedai tu nama Sabar Menanti, sekarang dah tak sabar-sabar dah pindah sampai stadium sana. Pedok (Nasaruddin) sama Nuar Congo dua-duanya dah jadi perwira negara. Sorang TLDM, Nuar pulak dah jadi drebar Mig-29 TUDM agaknya.

YATI YANG COMEL

Sambung balik tentang Super Kinta ni, kat situlah aku selalu ’ushar’ Yati. Yati ni kira marka paling comel seluruh Gugusan Manjoi dan segala takluk jajahannya pada masa itu (at least pada mata aku la). Aku jumpa dia first time masa Kejohanan Hoki Remaja Piala Dunia kat Stadium Azlan Shah. Masa tu aku rasanya form four dia pulak form one. Ada la sekali tu dengan bantuan kakak dia, aku berjaya buat date pertama dan terakhir kat Pasar Malam High Chapperal. Masa tu aku pakai baju Melayu lagi dating, sangatlah klasiknya. Apa jadi lepas tu aku pun tak boleh recall tapi pendekkan cerita, kiranya ayat-ayat maut aku tak berapa nak maut la agaknya malam tu.

Yati lepas sekolah kerja kat Super Kinta. Dressing blazer merahnya peh! Macam super model sedangkan aku pulak masih 'terperangkap' dengan sneaker hi-cut walaupun dah jadi student kolej waktu tu. Jiwa Rock la katakan. Selalu jugak aku singgah Super Kinta tu tapi sampai sudah tak berani tegur Yati lagi. Tapi tu dulu cerita lama. Yati pun dah berkeluarga bahagia dan berkelana ke Johor. Jarang budak Manjoi pi jauh-jauh sampai Johor tu...hihi!

Anyway, kudos to Dato’ Muhiyuddin kalau nak jadikan Super Kinta tu tempat berniaga businessman Melayu. Sekurang-kurangnya ada jugak tempat bertapak di tengah-tengah bandar. Dulu ada projek ”Satu Daerah Satu Kiosk” kat Medan Kid, melingkup. Megoplex sama Silveritage pun gagal jadi tempat tumpuan. Mungkin Super Kinta boleh menghidupkan semula zaman kegemilangan perniagaan orang-orang Melayu dan dalam masa yang sama mengembalikan kehebatan Mall terbesar di Asia Tenggara (pada suatu masa dulu)....

Happy Anniversary Al Kulipahtun

Selama tiga tahun pemerintahan DAP di Pulau Pinang telah banyak perkara-perkara yang diusulkan oleh Lim Guan Eng (LGE) be it yang produktif, sensitif ataupun yang senseless. Yang pentingnya usul. Bermula saja pemerintahan Pakatan, Dasar Ekonomi Baru dihapuskan, CAT diperkenalkan dengan alasan kononnya pentadbiran akan menjadi lebih telus, effisyen. Maka berdemolah puak-puak pembangkang diketuai beberapa pemimpin UMNO negeri yang masih berjaya mengekalkan satu dua kerusi DUN. Demo tak kemana DEB dibakulsampahkan oleh LGE dan konco-konconya. Kemudian timbul pula dasar pembersihan restoran-restoran haram diketuai oleh samseng KOMTAR Ng Wei Aik. Ironinya hanya restoran-restoran mamak dan peniaga Melayu kaki lima di’bersih’kan. Bagi memberikan keselesaan kepada peniaga-peniaga Cina, jalan di New Lane, Chai Leng Park, Batu Uban boleh ditutup bagi tujuan perniagaan kiasu. Johar Ismail (pemilik kafe Do Re Mi) boleh balik rumah tengok Laksa Mana? Do Re Mi lawak P Ramlee sama Tompel dan Ibrahim Din. Kampung Pala juga terpalit, mengamuk India2 setinggan di situ.

Tak habis dengan itu, timbul pula cerita perarakan Maulidur Rasul, isu duit Kuda, isu Valentine, terbaru isu Bible Bahasa Melayu, isu My Balik Pulau (aku sempat bercerita panjang dengan Prof Murad Merican berkenaan isu yang dibangkitkan beliau ”Melayu Pulau Pinang tewas dengan maklumat, teknologi?” dalam The Malaysian Insider. Jarang TMI bagi ruang pada seorang penulis, pemikir yang dianggap pro kerajaan?

WAIT SEMINIT

Bukan isu yang di atas yang hendak aku bawa pada kali ini. Isu di atas tu aku memang dah jangka sejak hari pertama Pulau Pinang diambil alih lagi. Aku teringat seseorang yang agak totok dengan perjuangan PAS dan aku pernah beberapa kali berdebat dengan beliau tentang perjuangan, hala tuju dsbgnya. Hamba Allah ini bila ditanya kenapa PAS tidak menjalankan hukum hudud, syariah di dalam pentadbiran PAS di Kelantan dan Kedah? beliau akan sentiasa menyalahkan kerajaan Pusat yang pasti tidak akan membenarkan usul tersebut dikemukakan ke Parlimen. Kali kedua soalan ditanya sama jugalah jawapannya. Masuk kali ketiga jawapan yang sama diberikan maka fahamlah aku memang itulah obstacle kerajaan pimpinan Nik Aziz dan Ustaz Azizan.

Cuma yang aku tak faham, kenapa LGE dengan bersahaja boleh menukar segala bala polisi dan undang2 di Pulau Pinang, tetapi tidak di Kelantan dan Kedah. Kalau di Kedah mungkin juga sebab Pakatan masih baru memerintah tetapi halnya berbeza di Kelantan. Pemerintahan sudah berdekad-dekad. Kenapa tidak saja promosikan di dada-dada akhbar alternatif, medan internet yang kerajaan Kelantan akan menjalankan hukum syariah pada sekian-sekian haribulan. Kalau kerajaan Pusat menghalang confirm kufur. Jadikan negeri itu model pemerintahan Islam yang sebenarnya. Be bold macam LGE bilamana dia nak menghapuskan DEB di Pulau Pinang. Orang Islam, orang Melayu khasnya bukannya bodoh macam 20-30 tahun lepas. Orang sekarang dapat membezakan mana satu politiking mana satu implementation. So buka minda dan fikir-fikirkanlah....

Most people do not know what they are capable of until forced to survive in difficult situation. Those words might be appropriate in reflecting two weeks of agony; last ‘full of workshops’ week and equally terrifying this coming week. If last week's buzz word was Sustainable Sciences and Megacities, this coming week we will talk a lot on progress and more progress.

On the 7th, we had our transformation External Review Workshop at the Equatorial Hotel. The workshop brought the best of two worlds; industry and academic to dwell on MORs’ proposed R&D roadmaps. We had people like Dermatology specialist Puan Sri Prof Datuk Dr Suraiya Hani (Menteri Amaran’s sister), Sustainable Science expert Prof Nik Meriam & Prof Muhamad Jantan, and many more. It was a fruitful event for the MOR leaders and to a certain level to people like me who after this could ‘arrogantly’ speak about kelestarian. Smug!

EMOTION SANDWICHED IN BETWEEN

I came back from work pretty late today. Rain was pouring quite heavily as I passed the Esso station at Jalan Kuala. That’s when I saw one umbrella-less Chinese auntie squirt down looking over passing by cars. I wanted to pull over at least to lend her something that could shelter her from the heavy rain but I just could not pull over due to traffic. From that moment on I’m driving with full of emotion. So many things ruptured in my mind, from what’s going on with this lady to where the f*#@ her children was?

Annoyed and speechless at home, those Raja Lawak clowns that night failed to make me even smile.

Tomorrow AM we will be having a Bakti programme at SRK Felcra Nasaruddin. I look forward to spend time with those children and hope it will take away some of my last week’s emotion, agony and arrogant-ness.

LAST HURDLE

Next week we supposedly gonna have the last Steering Committee before the handover to the newly established so called dedicated office of TO. TO Director himself, right after the External workshop do offer me to continue as Secretariat but I guess I just need some break and concentrate on my niche. Otherwise, I’ll be only known as an implementer, not thinker which is not good for career path.

To TO, I wish them transform..and roll out!

I hope I will be given that strength to push for this last hurdle. Oh yea, next AAC meeting with Tun will be on 7th July. I have his 800+ pages controversial ala LKY’s memoir - “A Doctor in the House” for my night reading.

If I’m not mistaken the last time I engaged with teambuilding was like 5 years back. Quite sometimes huh? I believe such team activities do have an impact to re-energize you after hectic work at the office. So when I was thrown with the opportunity to attend PETRONAS’ HRMD Teambuilding 2011 venue at Awana Genting Highlands, nobody could force me to say no go.

The teambuilding was with objectives to introduce HRM’s transformation, reinforce the culture of good behavior & mindset and at the same time building strong network between OPUs under HRM division. The event started off with presentation by Cik Lah & Pn Nornisham during the introduction and team formation. Pn Norni in her speech stressed the importance of having transformation of behavior and mindset to propel HRMD in particular and PETRONAS to a higher level (especially during economic turbulences). Eight behaviors identified and should be created to ensure high performance culture within PETRONAS’ staff: Ownership and Accountability, Focus and Discipline, Open Minded and Approachable and finally Adaptable & Resilient.

To enforce those behaviors the two days teambuilding was occupied with an outdoor and indoor activities. Our Venezuela team (participants segregated into 16 national teams) started off with a chill but thrill outdoor experience. We came out strong and were declared an overall winner during the ‘Wild Wild West’ theme dinner. It came no surprise to me cos’ the team members were committed, devoted and full of hardwork, including a GM from Instep. Those people really got into it. In the afternoon, the team did a considerably good display during the business simulation but did not come top in overall. The games was tiring, bring the very best of you to complete it but one thing I must say, the teambuilding do brings teambonding among team members. I feel connected and it will sure help with career networking in the future.

On the final day, when we were asked to write down one plan following the workshop to help make a difference in our workplace, I pledge to do work with integrity and positive mindset.

Thanks a zillion HRMD. My two thumbs up for good handling of the event by the organizer, consultant TMI assisted by ‘connector’ from in-house HRMD’s. George was hilarious and ‘connector’ Wawa was damn sexyyyy with her yeeha kind of cowboy costume!! Hehe.

Skype, Amanah & Positive Thinking

Semasa aku skype untuk sessi interview petang tadi, aku teringat kisah kali pertama dipertemukan dengan mesin fax. Huhu..peristiwa berlaku semasa kami sedang dalam pra-persediaan untuk Operasi Khidmat Masyrakat (OPKIM) IV Ulu Pauh lewat 1992. Kami diberitahu betapa bertuahnya kerana dikalangan pelajar-pelajar Intekma kamilah kumpulan pertama yang diperkenalkan dengan mesin fax yang serba canggih itu. Canggih sebab benchmarkingnya adalah phone ATUR yang sebesar paha, baling anjing sure koma 2 setengah bulan..

Banyak yang kami pelajari daripada OPKIM IV. Daripada pra-persiapan belajar surat menyurat, belajar budaya desa (belajar bagaimana hendak tertib makan minum) hinggalah kepada penyemaian jati diri melalui kursus bina semangat di Pusat Peranginan Sik. Di kem tersebut ada dua perkara yang pernah disampaikan kepada ku, mengambil iktibar dan beristiqamah dengannya sehinggalah ke hari ini. Pertamanya sifat amanah dan keduanya positive thinking. Aku masih berusaha dengan yang pertama itu tetapi bersyukur kerana agak berjaya dengan sifat yang kedua. Kudos pada Ust Shafiai Uda Jaafar, tenaga pengajar di kem tersebut yang rasanya tak henti-henti memberikan tunjuk ajar sehinggalah saat ini (beliau dah ada consultant firm sendiri sekarang).

Di OPKIM IV aku mengetuai biro sukan. Sukan rakyat dari permainan ting-ting, sepak raga, lari dalam guni, terompah gergasi hinggalah tarik tali semuanya di bawah takluk jajahan aku (ayat arrogant..). Seronok rasanya masa tu. Yang sedihnya bila terpaksa meninggalkan ayah & ibu angkat, Shahril (adik kecik masa tu 6 tahun) dan Shahrina (yang sekarang telah menamatkan pengajian di UiTM).

Teknologi cepat berubah. Itu aku amat pasti dan akan cuba mengikuti perkembangannya. Cuma aku harap sifat amanah dan positive thinking tidak akan berubah dari diri aku sampai bila-bila..

Lagu ni memang xde kena mengena dengan posting di atas, tapi cam biasa suka hati mak bapak aku la kan nak taruk lagu...kuikuikui..

Alhamdulillah personal loan dah approved. Next step is to confirm with the contractor and renovation work can take off as soon as possible. It has been like more than 12 years I'd left house @ no 267 dan sekarang aku akan kembali ke situ - my home since I was 7.

I'm pushing myself for career enhancement, children's better education and balance in life. Thou house no 267 might be a bit small for all of us, I guess relocating is the best possible choice at this moment. We'll have to wait and see.

My current house in Chemor? Lets make it a weekend house. I'll let my pet fish to take care of the house for now.

Crisis: Sudan

The Sudanese got to accept the fact that the country is now divided into three groups; the going to be poor Muslim in the North, the resource rich Christian in the South and the left behind tribe in between. The North under the leadership of a president that has been indicted by the International Criminal court might find it difficult to progress economically with its 35 million populations. The South on the other hand, has huge economic potential in oil & gas reserves and with population only between 7 – 9 mills to take care of.

Western has long interest in Sudan’s O&G potential especially in the South and Western Sudan of Darfur. The human right conflict is no other than to create pressure to the President to release the South from Khartoum. President Bashir might no longer be able to withstand the pressure and probably by agreeing to the referendum and secession were the only way to maintain his position in Khartoum. I foresee the new independent Southern Sudan will be fully backed by Western countries considering its potential in producing oil & gas (85% of Sudan’s oil input comes from the South). The current O&G player especially China National Petroleum Corp (CNPC) and PETRONAS who both of them holds 70% stake of block 1, 2 & 4 will find it difficult to ‘maintain’ the relationship in the future. After all, both companies have been labeled as the ‘provider’ to the wealthy elites of Khartoum (reported almost 40% of O&G profit was siphoned by these elites). Ethiopia as its neighboring country will also play a pivotal role in ensuring Southern resources will be easily made available to the Western. I have for all time believed Ethiopia is a reflection of Israel in Africa (so as Singapore in South East Asia).

“The Jews and the Christians will never be satisfied with you, O Muhammad, until you follow their way” (Al Baqarah:120). Everyone knew about this verse but what amaze me is how they able to manipulate the situation to achieve their goals.

Whether separation is good? Well, the feeling of oppression and marginalized for decades has turned Southern peoples’ attention from poverty, instability and struggle in maintaining a new nation to a jubilant 98.8% voters agreeing to the secession.

What will happen to the tribes in between? I suppose they will be forever in their uncivilized world. I was in Khartoum, Gezira and Addis Ababa in 2006 following a business trip to Sudan & Ethiopia. How I missed friendly Sudanese, the famous Blue & White Nile and Pak Mandy?

This week was like a yoyo. Up and down. One thing for sure the Potential Leader’s interview last Wednesday really pushes me to the corner. Not that I did not do my homework, needed preparation but I wasn’t expected the kind of questions that would came out. Let’s view this in an encouraging mode. If I were not to be chosen, then I probably not ready with the promotion, the new challenge. If I get the nod, I’ll have to work extra hard. Harder than now? O..too hard to think..

On the same day, our team lost our game to eventual winner of the inter-department volleyball tournament, the Mechanical Dept. We did not play our usual game thou. I guess we came short of our confidence in handling the pressure playing in the semi. It was also a tall order for a short guy like me. Well, bak kata David Teo “Ada masuk musti ada keluar,ada menang mesti ada kalah, ada naik mesti ada turun, ada bukuit mesti ada gunuing…”

Thursday, we had our accreditation visit. The blaming culture and bad attitude co-existed simultaneously to the extend of claiming the material produced was not his. “Bukan…ini bukan kerja saya ni..tak tau sapa yang buat ni…”. Entah sapa pulak yang buat kalau bukan dia. Donia, donia..macam-macam ada.

Late in the afternoon the cycle turned back in style. To begin with, we fought our heart out to win the volleyball 3rd placing game. Just look at the happy lot in the pic. Seems like we were happier than the 1st & runner up team.

Saturday morning I was invited to attend the St Micheal’s Hari Anugerah Akademik Cemerlang 2010. Kiki was in the list this year. I hope this will encourage his siblings to follow suit. Kiki was ecstatic for his first time; I had a happy face that morning. Chinese and Indian students were in the list of recipients even for courses like Bahasa Malaysia and Mathematics. Not that I was being envious of but I must admit Chinese and Indian found no barrier anymore with courses be it in Bahasa or English.

P/s - Hope the cycle stays a bit longer to provide me with some breathing space.

RIP: See Kim Leong

Physiotherapist Kim Leong, known to us as coach Leong was a good man. He used to coach us during football preparation for the 6th Yayasan games (Pesaya) back in 2001. With a background of a physio, he taught us not only how to play a technical/tactical match but also how to handle our physics in a challenging games like football. At the end of the tournament, Yayasan Perak ended up in third place, a notable position for a new team grouped and blended for the last 3 months.

Coach Leong had that characteristic of a man that anything came out from his mouth will be obeyed without much confronting. Thou some of us might ended up vomit at the far corner of the field resulting from his daring style of coaching. Within 3 months he turned us from a bullied 4 nil team (at a frendly by Tambun Army) to a 2-1 quarter final wins against Pahang (with the likes of Azharuddin Aziz, a prominent semi-pro player at that time). We lost to eventual winner Sabah 6 nil thou in an opener (hehe..). Coach Leong made us walk heads up every time we entered the field. And that feeling of high spirited, full of confident player was all over for the next few years playing football.

Thank you from all of us – the Yayasan Perak 2001 footballers under your service, Riazuan, Shahrul Izham, Zaraq, Suhaimi (GK), Yusri, nawawi, Anwar, Syed, Jefri (C), Zulkifli, Fadil and Team Manager, En Shafaruddin.

Coach Leong died of a heart failure at the Seremban General Hospital yesterday at 2.13am.

Social context in the case of Malaysia and Indonesia has been long debated due to the egocentric-freak, self-centered-dumbass of cultural dispute i.e. problem of having commonality in its culture, art, society etc. At least that’s how I perceive the problem was. Sustainability atau kelestarian dalam bahasa Malaysia, refers to ones capacity and capability to endure, to tolerate and to survive his/her life. World Summit in 2005 noted three pillars of human sustainability; environmental, social and economic; the potential for a long-term maintenance of human’s well being. Putting Siti into the platform is just like having Maher Zain performing at a dangdut festival. Relevant at the point of performance but definitely not after dangdut performer takes center stage. Will Mr Zain able to handle the heat? Innalillah, innalillah you’ll find your wayyy..

Story Mori # 1 - Maksu Sakit

Tiada apa yang boleh merosakkan hari minggu yang damai kecuali berita Maksu sakit di Putrajaya. Sakit perutnya berpanjangan. Kali ini katanya datang sekali dengan demam, muntah & sakit perut yg menghiris. Uji confident dia cuma gastrik tapi aku memikirkan sesuatu yang lebih daripada itu. At the same time aku juga amat tidak mengharapkan sesuatu yang lebih buruk seperti ulser perut, Big C atau yang seangkatan dengannya pada Maksu.

Maksu adik arwah mak, the one and only. Macam aku dengan Uji, kami berdua sahaja adik beradik daripada keluarga Ariff Salim dan Siti Aminah. Bezanya kami berdua lelaki, mak dan maksu gender sebaliknya. Hidup aku jadi tak tenang, agaknya seperti kekecohan yang akan melanda N05, Tenang esok hari dalam menghadapi PRK. Kali ke 14 selepas PRU-12 yang lalu.

Hari ini dah dua kali aku menelipon. Kalau tak disebabkan budak2 yang ke Taqwa minggu ni, rasanya hendak aja aku henjut ke Putrajaya. Takpalah raya Cina nanti aku turun Putrajaya jumpa Maksu. Harap2 sakitnya berkurangan sehari dua ni..

Story Mori # 2 – Abdullah Hussin Tak Sihat

Aku boleh memahami perasaan Abdullah Hussin. Perasaannya pasti seperti dirobek-robek, dirogol (huh..), diperkosa (huh..)dengan berita bahawa karya interlok beliau akan diubahsuai mengikut kepentingan dan kehendak sesuatu pihak. Setelah 40 tahun karya itu tidak pernah dianggap sensitif, baru sekarang puak2 ni disedarkan dengan penggunaan satu perkataan yang maha sensitif. Nama pun karya, seni sastera sememangnya penggunaan perkataan-perkataan sensitif berleluasa. Disitulah nanti terserlah kebijaksanaan, keintelektualan seseorang menafsirkan karya-karya itu dari perspektif mereka yang tersendiri. Kalau semua dah tak boleh bukan karya namanya, itu buku polisi dan guideline.

Aku tak nampak mana sensitifnya karya itu kecuali permainan politik untuk melihat sejauh mana kekuatan mereka di tanah air yang tercinta ini. Juga melihat sejauh mana Melayu ni boleh berkompromi. Apa susah. Trend sekarang ni redah aja dulu, pastu mintak maaf. Simple je nak settle ngan orang Melayu ni.

Datuk Abdullah Hussin sudah lanjut usianya. Kalaulah perkara ini berlaku 40 tahun dulu mahu huru-hara agaknya Malaysia dengan krisis ini. Mahu diajaknya MIC ke, PPP ke PKR ke berdebat untuk melihat sejauh mana sensitifnya karya beliau. Mahu juga agaknya diajak TPM (yang juga Menteri Pelajaran) untuk ambik HSE sekali lagi, untuk melihat kasta pelajaran antara keduanya sebelum TPM layak bersuara. Bagi aku menceritakan sesuatu yang realiti bukan menjadi satu kesalahan. Sejarah dipelajari untuk menjadi sempadan kepada masa depan.

Story Mori # 3 – Maarof Pulak Dah Kritikal

Kecoh pasal Cikgu Maarof, suami kepada Cikgu Mala calon PRK Dun Tenang menipu MC untuk sama-sama berkempen bagi pihak isteri beliau. Ini lagi hebat. Jarang anak Melayu menipu MC ni sampai 21 hari. Jarang jugak doktor berani kasi MC sampai 21 hari kalau tak disebabkan sakit yang kritikal. Aku yang sakit separuh mampus dulu pun masuk hari kedua dah terbayang-bayang muka En Din datang suruh sambung kerja, apa lagi kalau dah mencecah berminggu-minggu. Mau dia kata ”ko nampak itu pintu...get outttt...(huhu..)”.

Apa-apa pun kita lihatlah nanti keputusan N05 Tenang samada Cikgu Mala berjaya mencuri kerusi DUN atau sebaliknya Cikgu Maarof terpaksa mengadap Kementerian berkenaan cuti sakit beliau. Confirm ubat penenang akan diberikan selepas ini..

Befriending the Nature

It’s about time we go green. At least that was the spirit inside me after engaging the go green initiative by Jusco with its Saturday’s No Plastic Bag Campaign. Everybody knows the effect and implication of non compliance to future sustainability, especially when it is involving ecological environment. But then we tend to forget, we always feeble (not strong enough to be seen or heard clearly) and delicate when it comes to environmental concern. Or was it another ‘I don’t care’, ‘take it easy’ kind of attitude of we Malaysian? Unless it is not seriously enforced by government, with punishable law, we will take it unconscientiously. Last week in local newspaper it was mentioned that our daily waste in a form of uncollected rubbish could cover up the whole state of Perlis in only 5 days. For once it was unimaginable and unthinkable.

Every year the international environmental summit will address the same issue i.e. the importance of environmental concern that should focus on the legislation and enforcement (taking into consideration much needed action to combat the issue now) and also in the birth of environmental education that focused on changing people’s environmental behavior. When we discuss in people’s environmental behavior i.e. waste reduction, recycling and energy efficiency, let us not talk too much about acid rain effects, Chernobyl disaster, Bhopal tragedy or even Greenpeace activism in Japan’s water territory. Let just start small by ensuring your family understand the cause and effect of environmental faulty, should we are not able to address the problem like now, this moment. Change we can believe in and beliefs we can change.

Tell them that nature might not want to befriend us anymore..

Hari ini dalam sejarah. Semalam ada dua meeting, big time. AM Senate followed by Tranformation Steering Committee yang lasted sampai kul 6.30PM. Tak pernah aku handle dua meeting besar dalam satu hari sebelum ni. Alhamdulillah semuanya berjalan dengan baik walaupun SC meeting tu akan disambung lagi minggu depan. Pagi Khamis, kena pulak interview session. Gagal aku nak tengok 'well-well' 2011. Selalunya tiap2 tahun aku singgah jugak kat Gunung Curo tu walaupun dari kejauhan...;-)

Esok Jumaat kerja kena diteruskan. Ada beberapa visit untuk akreditasi yang perlu diteliti minggu depan ni. March akan ada external workshop sebelum handing over Transformation ni pada TPO. Aku pun dah 'janji' dengan bos nak siapkan documentation Transformation Plan study sebelum 31 March nanti. Aku hint bos semalam, KPI dah met (huhu) so bolehlah concentrate dengan documentation tu. Bos pulak hint aku balik. Katanya tahun ni tak senang nak dapat excellent lagi sebab expectation dah melangit. Aku baru je berangan-angan nak dapat 'turkey' untuk PDA tahun ni. Rekod tu kalau dapat tiga tahun berturut2.

For the past one month aku berjaya membusykan diri. Aku terpaksa kalau tak aku boleh pusing. Pusing sampai pening sampai timbul kemalasan untuk mengupdate blog ni. Hanya 3 posting dalam 3 minggu sesangatlah tak produktifnya.

Persekolahan budak2 tu pun dah ok. Weekdays mereka ke St Micheal, weekend mereka akan ke Taqwa untuk kelas mingguan tahfiz. Seronok tengok depa tiap malam dah pandai ambik quran nak hafal surah. Katanya weekend nanti Ustaz nak tanya. Cuma diaorang agak terkilan sebab tak dapat ke kelas taekwondo malam sabtu. Awek Kiki dah tukar talipinggang biru rupanya, tu yang 'bising' sangat tu. Aku berjanji akan rearrange semua tu minggu ni. Penat la sikit tapi takpe aku happy dengan semua pembaharuan ini.

Ok. Hopefully minggu depan ni motivasi untuk update blog akan kembali. Sebenarnya ada banyak idea untuk menulis. Cuma gagal direalisasikan oleh jejari ni..huhu alasan tahap tinggi tu.

It was a night to remember for the Malaysian Young Tigerz, and they did it at the Gelora Bung Karno in front of a full 100,000 capacity Indonesian spectators. We won 4-2 on aggregate although we lost 2-1 in that 2nd leg.

Whatever it was, we have for the 1st time since the last 14 years, lifted the South East Asia cup of glory….and poor Indonesia, they were again for the fourth time only as good as a bridegroom.

The game might have gone the wrong way if Firman Utina were able to convert the penalty earlier in the first half. But Khairul and the backliner kept their cool throughout the match. In my opinion our national keeper deserved the MVP award. Safee Sali was just superb. His fifth goals in the tournament really turned down the attacking tempo of the ‘Gonzo’ and the rest of Timnas.

Jupe on the other hand was not on sight (maybe had some problem with her laser beam?). The rest of her ‘Ultraman’ did not do work well too.

Hail King Gobal! You’ve led us to SEA Games gold, 2nd stage of Asian Games and now Suzuki Cup victory.

It’s really a good present for Malaysian in closing down the curtain of 2011.

Young Tigerz

It was a heart pumping filled action at Bukit Jalil a few days back. I bet things will even be crazier in two days time at Gelora Bung Karno. Whatever it was, the ever-waiting glory of Malaysian football and the Malaysian’s wildest expectations has came to live when the Young Tigerz trounced the mighty Indonesian with a 3 nil margin. It was a fantastic show, (best ever displayed since the 2-1 winning team of Moscow Olympic 1980s qualifier) at a fully packed stadium of more than 90 thousands spectators, and million more in front of their TVs.

With the fighting spirit shown by the Tigerz, I believe it will be a miracle for the Indonesian team to turn back the table or come back strongly. The key success factor is never look high on others cos’ we are now the best in South East Asia. In different perspective, the key losing factor would be over-confident of the comfortable 3-0 score line. And with the fanatical freak Indonesian fan?…

Wait seminit. That was not the key gone-astray factor. If Malaysia loses the 2nd leg, it would be because of no other than the sensational sexy actress with busty laser beam 36D cup, Jupe or Julia Perez. Nor Shahrul will find it difficult to even jog around, considering his inexperience first night. Khairul Fahmi, Safee Sali would barely open their eyes in handling the laser beam from the busty (Gaston’s playground) 36D cup. Even King Raja could barely give orders, cos’ his mouth will be flooded with saliva..

Yup…these Young Tigerz are special. They’ve brought back the joy and pleasure of watching Malaysian football. I’m a proud Malaysia football team supporter!!!!

Go King Raja, Go Tigerz, kick their ass hard…

The Day 31st Dec

I could still well remember the day I lost my father. Dad and I, we were not that close. I remember him as a fierce person to deal with, ever. He’s not used to talk to us. Anything that came out from his mouth would be either to give orders or to scream out loud. Usually it was the latter. But then, he was a workaholic. I know, everyone in that house knows how hard working he was. And it was all for the betterment of the family. Nevertheless, Allah loves him more..

It was on a dark Friday noon 31st Dec 1985; I was preparing myself with my new year resolution, new school bag, new diary (which I stop ‘talking’ to it after few month of writing) while dad, he was just turned 39. At first he had complained about some pain in the eyes, followed by some severe chest paid, headache (he barely could walk for a Friday prayer that day), vomited continuously and eventually declared death of enormous blood pressure at 5pm.

Things were so sudden for all of us. Mom was always being full time housewife, I was then just 13. Lights in front of the tunnel seem just getting shady. Yet, kita tidak pernah tahu apa perancangan Tuhan untuk kita..

Every now and then whenever we are about to reach 31st Dec, I will always remember the feeling of burden and at the same time obligation of being the so-called fatherless son. For some reason, I’m felt the same feeling leaving behind 31st Dec 2010. It’s like a slow torch burning, slowly but deeply harassing your skin deep. It’s leaving behind scars in a long run. 2010 left behind lots of memories, that’s one thing I can assure of.

But then again, I’ve managed the 1st of Jan 1986 and I’m quite sure I will survive the day after 31st Dec 2010 too. InsyaAllah. I guess I just need to learn how to enjoy the ‘freefall’. Nonetheless, I really hope I will remember how to smile again…to make my world and the world surrounding me sensible & worthwhile.

IQ, EQ, PQ, SQ & QQ..

Jibrail (in a form of a man) once came to Rasulullah and asked 3 questions; what are Islam, Iman and Ehsan? Islam replied Rasulullah is shahadat and all other Rukun Islam, Iman…believes in the existence of Allah and other Rukun Iman. When asked on the word Ehsan, Rasulullah replied with this saying:

"Beribadah kepada Allah seolah-olah anda melihat-Nya walaupun anda tidak melihat-Nya, karena sesungguhnya Allah melihat anda”(Muslim)

Dr Danial Zainal Abidin, a motivator expert as well as an Islamic preacher, put up a new dimension to my understanding of IQ & EQ (previous posting here). Allah swt stressed the word Ehsan or quality or excellence in whatever that we are engaged in. The Prophet preaches when you do something, you do it as if you could see Allah in front of you. Thus, enable us to do anything with taqwa and ehsan. He further stressed that it is an obligation for us to do things with quality. The concept of IQ & EQ itself is a concept of ehsan or quality. Dr Danial expanding the concept of excellence/quality by adding another three more quotients i.e. PQ or Physical quotient, SQ (Spiritual quotient) and QQ or Quranic quotient: -

IQ (Intelligent Quotient)

IQ refers to the ability to store and retrieve facts and information, and also problem solving ability. In other word our brain quality. To boost IQ we need the followings (amongst others): -

• Physical exercise

• Lifelong learning

• Social interaction

• Sleep & nap

• Laugh & humor

• Healthy breakfast etc

EQ (Emotional Quotient)

The ability to manage one’s emotion and behavior is called EQ. People with high EQ tend to question his/her anger, sadness etc.

PQ (Physical Quotient)

PQ on the other hand is the ability to subtle signals your bodies gives you, before responding to it wisely. Those with high PQ tend to listen to their body i.e. pains, tired, etc. These symtoms should trigger us to respond it it accurately and wisely.

SQ (Spiritual Quotient)

Live has no meaning until we based it on religion. This is spiritual quotient i.e. our self devotion to the creator. "Live is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it...".

QQ (Quranic Quotient)

Finally, in living this life we need a roadmap or the divine map rom this world to thereafter. Quran teaches us on Ehsan concept in whatever we do, that is being our roadmap towards excellence now and beyond.
